PROM, PART 2

Because he can't stop himself from making a movie reference, the theme of this year's Prom is "Enchantment Under the Sea". (Don't get too freaked out, Marty McFly.) Equipment has been moved out, seating has been set near tables and walls, and a makeshift stage has been constructed to host the DJing equipment. Quinn has music up until 2010, so a large variety of music will get played. There's plenty of food and drinks - including spiked, and very-much-not-spiked punch (magically protected, thanks to Ilsa). In a corner is a small set up for people who wish to get their photos taken by Tsukasa.

The party is under way - have yourselves a good time, Mayfield!

[Mindy just wanted to see what all the fuss was about. So she got all dressed up and came to the party. But it's an awfully grownup party, so she isn't sure what to do. Right now she's standing nervously in a corner and trying to catch a glimpse of someone she knows.]

[Norway is certainly not the type to be attending these kinds of functions, but in this case he has decided to make an exception, reasoning that it would be better to familiarise himself with some of the faces he would see around the town.

He's more than content to simply watch, for now]

[Saori, still a bit of newbie here, figured she might as well come along to meet up new people. Too bad she's a bit of wallflower in big events like this. She's dressed up nice and nurses a drink while she watches everything go on. Of course, a little nudge will help her get out of her shell.]

[April has decided to wear this dress for the prom, and she'll simply be going to stand on the sidelines and lean against the wall.

It isn't that she doesn't like dancing, she's just content enough to watch.]

[Caroline was talked into attending as a chaperone, so here she is. She's wearing a nice dress in dark blue, but not dressed up as nice as the ones that are here to participate. Her hair is just in a ponytail and she didn't bother much with makeup.

There's not really much for a chaperone to do but hold up the wall and sip punch. Currently non-spiked, but if the night gets too boring she may have to switch.]

[Elizabeth didn't really want to come anymore, but she bought the dress, so she's just standing in the corner looking unenthusiastic.]

[Neville's not sure what to make of all this. The only thing they had that even resembled it at Hogwarts was the Yule Ball. But everyone was talking about how much fun it was going to be, so he figured he'd give it a go.

He couldn't find dress robes, so he's wearing a tuxedo jacket with a kilt. That's what you wear on formal occasions, right? He's just standing off to the side, watching the action and trying to figure out what to do.]

[Hajime's taken a break from his prom photography to hang back and take a breather in the form of changing his film, then standing there and watching all the activity for a bit. Anyone who's at all capable of reading body language can probably tell he's not exactly comfortable around the crowd.]

[The thing Frances hates most about parties, more than wearing stupid dresses and doing stupid dances with stupid boys, is that they always remind her how few friends she really has.

She's wearing a stupid dress and will probably most likely end up dancing with a stupid boy by the end of the night, but for now she's just standing awkwardly off to the side, arms crossed and a grimace on her face, scowling at anyone who happens to walk by her. It's a defense mechanism.]

[ Having only been here for a week, Bella hasn't met that many people. But that isn't stopping her from going to Prom. She's sure that this one will be better than her last, and she's going to enjoy it.

She's standing near a wall, watching everybody on the dance floor. She's wearing this little number and has her hair pinned on top of her head.

[ Part of the action? Not really. He's had a lot of drinking parties with Rui and Kouji back home in his world, but this just isn't the same.

After Mirai vanished into the crowd, Yukihina wanished off to the wall.

He's currently fingering his braid and looking out at the crowd with little interest. With a bored, blank expression on his face. Not that that's anything out of the ordinary, but still. ]

[Caesar's not too inclined to wade into the crowd and actually participate in prom until he has no other choice and, chances are, he's only made it to the darkest corner to be found in the rec center to hide loiter because he's managed to escape Hiling for the moment.

He's brought a plate of snacks out here with him to pick at and is content enough to lean against a wall, sulking the night away.]

[ And Hibari is at prom, too. Dragged there by none other than the diva-boy Taki. Not that he wanted to go - and damnit why did people always have to drag him to these crowded places? He didn't like it at all, rather, he hated it.

At least he wasn't wearing any crazy weird clothes. Instead, he was wearing a nice black and red yukata, and a pair of geta made out of wood.

And he's already both bored and irritated. ]

[Archer's not quite sure what's possessing everyone to go along with this. Making the gilded cage comfortable, he guessed. The red knight is just using this as an excuse to get a look at the non-drone folks and is keeping to himself. Poor sucker isn't even dressed fancy.]

[Just because Jenny is a chaperon doesn't mean she's not going to make sure she's beyond presentable. Still, she watching the kids have their fun. She's never understood proms. At least not in mixed gender schools. In the finishing schools of her youth is was important for a girl to make a proper match. At least that's what her elders said. She'd never actually graduated from a finishing school herself.

She thought about when she was younger. Forty, maybe fifty years ago she wouldn't have minded this sort of thing, but then there was John to convince her to loosen up a little and her to convince him to. This era, this damn era always brought her back to him. It was the era when he'd left everything behind.

Her hands tightened around her cup for a moment before she forced herself to loosen them. There was no use showing weakness in front of these people. No, the time for weakness had long passed. Even if this place did pretend it was the 50's.]

-Charlie decided to show up. Just to keep an eye on things of course. He eventually meanders over toward the group of would-be-wallflowers. Glancing around, he notices nothing too unusual and calmly keeps walking. It's hard not to notice that ridiculous forelock...-

[Later in the night, Yuna can be found sitting a few rows up in the bleachers, barefoot and leaning back on her hands with her shoes sitting next to her. She's uncharacteristically quiet, but still wearing the usual smile most of her friends would expect out of her during an event like this.]

[She's still not quite sure if this was a smart idea or a dumb idea. On the one hand, she realized if she was here for the long haul she should probably form more social connections... But on the other hand.. Some of this just seemed so frivolous. Mostly unsure of her decision still, she is just going to stand stiffly by a wall wearing her uniform from home. She was willing to put a dress on back home for wide scale events, but this was far from it and she put her foot down on the whole idea of it.]
