Because he can't stop himself from making a movie reference, the theme of this year's Prom is "Enchantment Under the Sea". (Don't get too freaked out, Marty McFly.) Equipment has been moved out, seating has been set near tables and walls, and a makeshift stage has been constructed to host the DJing equipment. Quinn has music up until 2010, so a large variety of music will get played. There's plenty of food and drinks - including spiked, and very-much-not-spiked punch (magically protected, thanks to Ilsa). In a corner is a small set up for people who wish to get their photos taken by Tsukasa.

The party is under way - have yourselves a good time, Mayfield!

[Archer's not quite sure what's possessing everyone to go along with this. Making the gilded cage comfortable, he guessed. The red knight is just using this as an excuse to get a look at the non-drone folks and is keeping to himself. Poor sucker isn't even dressed fancy.]

I'm glad you're back. I was worried about protecting Tohsaka without you around.

[She tightens her hold on him.]

You know, Tohsaka has been here a long time with nobody but Lancer staying by her. She's really lonely now, and due to what this town does, she's suffered a lot, so keep her company, okay?

If Lancer has been her only company, then I know she's not healthy. I already said I'd look after her as best I can.

...how much have you had, by the way?

[She stops and counts.]

[Annnnd he's just going to push Bazett off of him by pushing her head now.]

You should go lay down somewhere.

[Sadly, she's like a Berkana rune. The second he pushes her off, she just snaps back and attaches to him again.]

Heeey, I know! Let's all go and throw Tohsaka surprise party! That way, she won't be sad about having to stay here anymore. Oh, I know! When's her birthday? We can celebrate that.

[Archer stops being subtle about it and is now continually trying to back away from Bazett while pushing her off. Which is...a pretty interesting sight for any onlookers.]

Yes, I'm sure, we can...talk about that later. Just. Get off me. Please.

[She's not letting go, is she.]

[She giggles when one of his hands, due to the way that she is hugging him and he is pushing her, accidentally ends up on her chest.]

Ooooooh...you touched thaaaat....

[Whatever force he angered for this to happen to him, he really wants to kick it in the teeth right now. He's just going to start kicking now, hoping she's not too drunk to stop feeling light foot jabs around her legs.]

H-hey, that's your own damn fault! Let go of me already!

[She clicks her tongue, and then releases one of her arms to wag a finger at them.]

Don't worry about it. Hayate said I was cute tonight, so it's not surprising you'd want to have a feel.

[From the way she is looking at him, it is clear that this is her very bad attempt at teasing.]

You can take another feel if you want. I've heard people say that people obsess more over the things they can only get a little taste of. It'll be our secret, okay?

[ He might have not noticed it in his youth, but Rin does have the chest to fill out her dress of choice. Bouncing up to him, she tries to look as though she's enjoying herself, but deep down in her eyes is a pained look. ]

What are you doing here? [ No, that's a dumb question as she looks over her shoulder. ] Actually, this was a good idea. Have you come to see who isn't a drone? This is a good number of them in all honesty...

Along those lines, yes. I actually didn't expect to see you here.

[Mostly since he arrived after all the prom planning and it wasn't mentioned at length to him.]

Having any fun, for what it's worth?

I attended the one before. Honestly, last year should have been my final one, but this place has a habit of not acknowledging the time I've spent here. I haven't aged a day after.

[ Save for her state of mind, but that doesn't need to be commented on. ]

It isn't all that bad. I've had more fun elsewhere, but my date isn't all that bad. Well, not that she's my real date or anything. My own kind of agreed to go with someone else, so I've had to improvise.

Hmm? You actually got a date for this place?

['And got stood up by them?' is the unspoken follow up question. That explained the troubled look in her eyes. Archer had an eye for that himself after the long Grail War with Rin.]

...man, if I had known you were going to be here I would've at least brought something for the occasion. [Probably food. Or tea in a handy container.]

Mm, I was stupid enough to think for a single night it could be normal. [ Rin laughs at that. ] This town only has one purpose and to have hope that things will change is childish. I can only learn from this mistake and move forward, Archer.

Something for the occasion? Don't tell me you would have done something stupid like bring a flower or something of that sort. I'll get annoyed at you for speaking that way.

You of all people should know I'm not that much of a romantic. Or cheap. It'd probably be something more tangible to make the evening bearable enough.

[He avoids commenting on the first part. The man doesn't know whether to preach his old brand of pessimism or try to cheer her up. Either gesture by itself probably wouldn't be appreciated anyways.]

What will you do, now?

Well, don't worry too much about that. The entire town's supply of alcohol is floating around in the shadows here. Seems I'm not the only one who needs a boost in morale.

As for my plans... hm, probably invest in a better Servant and rebuild my workshop to surpass the one I had back home. We don't know when this town will strike out against it's populace again and I would like to be prepared. I'm also going to try to learn a few skills that aren't related to magic. More defensive maneuvers than anything, but it'd be nice to start a fire by my own hands instead of magic should the time come.

I'd also like to learn how to use a sword. You refused to teach me the first time you were here, so I assume your answer will still be the same. Well, that's fine by me. There are plenty of others here I can learn from. The basics were taught to me for a few weeks by one person, but he's long since then left this place.

You don't say. [Forever traumatized by drunken Bazett. But he listens to Rin's plans carefully. Well, it seemed reasonable enough. Archer planned to respond to that last one with some careful bait-and-switch if only to ruin her interpretation based on his 'old self'

[Why would she suddenly want to invest in a 'better Servant'? Lancer didn't seem particularly ineffective, and Rin was probably practical enough to let him get his own Master when his status was restored. He was a pain in the ass, but Archer's own appearance shouldn't have warranted it. He wasn't ineffective enough for that if he was so protective of Rin like everyone had said.

And didn't she just imply she got stood up...

summons every last scrap of willpower leftover from his younger self

to resist facepalming and try to keep a blank expression. Even if there's a slight twitch to his eye. And he quietly, quietly hopes he is wrong. But considering his luck in Mayfield so far, he doesn't think that's quite likely.]
