PROM, PART 2

Because he can't stop himself from making a movie reference, the theme of this year's Prom is "Enchantment Under the Sea". (Don't get too freaked out, Marty McFly.) Equipment has been moved out, seating has been set near tables and walls, and a makeshift stage has been constructed to host the DJing equipment. Quinn has music up until 2010, so a large variety of music will get played. There's plenty of food and drinks - including spiked, and very-much-not-spiked punch (magically protected, thanks to Ilsa). In a corner is a small set up for people who wish to get their photos taken by Tsukasa.

The party is under way - have yourselves a good time, Mayfield!

KING AND QUEEN

[Part way through the night, Quinn will take the stage holding a card.]

Okay, now the part you've all been waiting for. This year's Mayfield Prom Queen is - Rin Kagamine, by a landslide victory! And our King is.... surprise! Len Kagamine AND last year's favorite, the inanimate carbon rod.

[Quinn takes the rod from his back pocket and holds it up for all to see.]

Since it's a tie, I demand we have a dance off. Len, get ready. [And Quinn unceremoniously tosses the rod at Len's feet. He turns to his DJ table and starts playing some techno dance music, grinning the whole time.]

[Mindy just wanted to see what all the fuss was about. So she got all dressed up and came to the party. But it's an awfully grownup party, so she isn't sure what to do. Right now she's standing nervously in a corner and trying to catch a glimpse of someone she knows.]

[Norway is certainly not the type to be attending these kinds of functions, but in this case he has decided to make an exception, reasoning that it would be better to familiarise himself with some of the faces he would see around the town.

He's more than content to simply watch, for now]

[Saori, still a bit of newbie here, figured she might as well come along to meet up new people. Too bad she's a bit of wallflower in big events like this. She's dressed up nice and nurses a drink while she watches everything go on. Of course, a little nudge will help her get out of her shell.]

[April has decided to wear this dress for the prom, and she'll simply be going to stand on the sidelines and lean against the wall.

It isn't that she doesn't like dancing, she's just content enough to watch.]

[Ed leans against the wall next to her, hands in his pockets. Looks like someone managed to talk him into wearing a suit to this thing. He cleans up well.]

[Caroline was talked into attending as a chaperone, so here she is. She's wearing a nice dress in dark blue, but not dressed up as nice as the ones that are here to participate. Her hair is just in a ponytail and she didn't bother much with makeup.

There's not really much for a chaperone to do but hold up the wall and sip punch. Currently non-spiked, but if the night gets too boring she may have to switch.]

[Elizabeth didn't really want to come anymore, but she bought the dress, so she's just standing in the corner looking unenthusiastic.]

[Neville's not sure what to make of all this. The only thing they had that even resembled it at Hogwarts was the Yule Ball. But everyone was talking about how much fun it was going to be, so he figured he'd give it a go.

He couldn't find dress robes, so he's wearing a tuxedo jacket with a kilt. That's what you wear on formal occasions, right? He's just standing off to the side, watching the action and trying to figure out what to do.]

[Claire sits down at one of the open chairs with a plate of food since everyone seems to be at the tables.]

You know, to tell you the truth I only came here for the food. That...and to see if this was being put on by martians like the Halloween party was.

[Just when he thought this place couldn't get any stranger..]

[There's another fellow wallflower wizard standing nearby. Curiosity and boredom had led him to attend this Muggle Yule Ball, but he sure as hell isn't dancing or anything, choosing to instead lean against the wall and observe yet another Muggle custom. Unsure of what to wear either, he had opted for normal, everyday clothes; a checker collared shirt and a pair of pants. It's not like he had anyone to impress anyway. ]

[THAT STUPID ROD, making Rin wait for her dance!! HUFF

but oh well, it's not like he can lose. Rin calls out after receiving her crown]

Do it, Len!! Our victory must be complete~!! ♪

[inanimate carbon rod... we meet at last. there can be only one prom king!!

he flashes Rin a V-sign and a confident grin... before BUSTING HIS MOVES. bet you don't have moves like that, rod!!

yes, he did in fact just breakdance. in a tux.]

Yeah. After about a week of subjectin' people to whatever they could think of...they held a party for the whole town in their flying saucer.

[He takes a couple bite of potato salad.]

I bnow it gounds strbange, but fhat's minda what bou shoulb expect. I guess we should be lucky half the people here ain't covered in fake blood or whatever the stuff was they booby trapped that place with~!

Oh, um, thanks! Your suit looks pretty good, too. [Even if she is a bit awkward about it, her compliment is genuine too.]

I've been all right, despite Mayfield being Mayfield. I got myself a puppy the other day, so he's been keeping me busy.

[Hajime's taken a break from his prom photography to hang back and take a breather in the form of changing his film, then standing there and watching all the activity for a bit. Anyone who's at all capable of reading body language can probably tell he's not exactly comfortable around the crowd.]
