Because he can't stop himself from making a movie reference, the theme of this year's Prom is "Enchantment Under the Sea". (Don't get too freaked out, Marty McFly.) Equipment has been moved out, seating has been set near tables and walls, and a makeshift stage has been constructed to host the DJing equipment. Quinn has music up until 2010, so a large variety of music will get played. There's plenty of food and drinks - including spiked, and very-much-not-spiked punch (magically protected, thanks to Ilsa). In a corner is a small set up for people who wish to get their photos taken by Tsukasa.

The party is under way - have yourselves a good time, Mayfield!

[ Small smile. He starts to dance with her. ] You're a pretty good dancer.

My dad taught me. Apparently his moves were what made mom fall for him in the first place. Kinda shocking to think about considering how boring he could be at times.

I dance a lot at home. It's part of being in the spotlight where I'm from. [ He doesn't sound proud of this fact. Her style of dancing, naturally, is a bit different from what they do in District 12, but he keeps up. ]

-Something about the way he said it curbed her curiosity to ask for details.- Well you're pretty good.

Thank you. [ Small smile. ] Compliments will get you far.

Hey, it's no big deal. You look like you could use a genuine compliment from time to time.

Why's that? Do I seem sad or something? [ He was really trying not to seem like he was, but it was hard not to be at times. ]

In all honesty? You look lost. Depressed even. I don't know what's going on back where you came from, and I know it's not my right to ask. But... Someone told me that, as bad as this place can be, people like us, who come from the bad, have a chance at something good here, even if only for a little while. So I figure... why not, right?

[succorer]

I'm going to have to try harder to not seem so. [ It led him to believe he wasn't fooling anyone. His eyes diverted to the ground for a moment. When she said she came from the bad, and said 'us', he couldn't help but feel sympathy. ] DO you want to go back to it?

... I don't have a choice, really. I have to go back and finish things.

Same. Of course, I want to go back. I have someone to protect there. [ He takes a step towards the edge of the dance floor as the song ends. ]

And I have someone to kill.

[ That makes Peeta stop in his tracks. ] What, why?

... Revenge. -She looks as if she's trying very hard to shrug off the conversation, but it was obvious that the line of thought was taking her dark places... places she'd rather not be at the moment.-

I'm sorry, Heather. [ He's earnest when he says that to her. ]

... Don't worry about it. It's not your problem.

It doesn't matter that it isn't my problem. I'm still sorry.

[ There's a reason that Haymitch called him 'too good' for Katniss. ] Of course. [ This is what he does. ] It's important to you, right?

Yeah... but a little heavy for prom conversation. How about we grab some punch instead, right?

[succorer]

[ He didn't really find it to be too heavy, but what did he really know, considering where he was from. ] Punch sounds great.

[ Already taking steps in that direction. ]

-And she sticks with him, holding onto one of his arms.-

[ Smiles a little bit as he walks. ] I heard around here that they did this last year. I'm surprised the same trick worked twice.
