Because he can't stop himself from making a movie reference, the theme of this year's Prom is "Enchantment Under the Sea". (Don't get too freaked out, Marty McFly.) Equipment has been moved out, seating has been set near tables and walls, and a makeshift stage has been constructed to host the DJing equipment. Quinn has music up until 2010, so a large variety of music will get played. There's plenty of food and drinks - including spiked, and very-much-not-spiked punch (magically protected, thanks to Ilsa). In a corner is a small set up for people who wish to get their photos taken by Tsukasa.

The party is under way - have yourselves a good time, Mayfield!

It sure is. It is interesting to see how it can change a person's mood.

I know a little Ben and Jerry's can lift my spirits in the worst of times.

That does taste good. [ Though he tries to eat mostly healthy food, so he doesn't eat it all that often. ] It has been quite some time since I last ate ice cream. Would you accompany me to the ice cream parlour some day?

[ Her face lights up. ] Sure!

[ What kind of respectful girl would she be if she didn't accept an offer to get ice cream? ]

Lovely.

[ Especially if there's any good ice cream. Which Taki hopes. When you rarely eat something you want it to be good when you actually get some, right? ]

[ She's going to be seriously disappointed if the ice cream sucks. Sucky ice cream on top of a sucky town? Ugh. ]

[ That would be no fun. And Taki doesn't know how to make ice cream, so that wouldn't help them either. Maybe if there's a non-drone cafe in town? There used to be a cosplay cafe, what happened to that, he wonders. ]

Now, have you had the chance to dance, this evening?

I have, with one person. But not as much as I'd like.

[ She eyes him. Are you offering, Taki? Because she's totally up for a dance. ]

[watchthenails]

Oh, we can't have that now, can we? [ Usually he wouldn't ask girls to dance, but she's a friend, so why not.

He offers a hand. ] May I have this dance?

[ She giggles and puts her hand in his. ] Of course.

[ And normally, she wouldn't dance with guys other than her boyfriend. But she's pretty sure Taki is gay (considering he brought a boy to Prom) and therefore, he doesn't count. ]

[watchthenails]

[ He takes her to the floor. ] I must warn you though, I don't know much about how to do the more modern dances. [ Things like that happens when you grow up in a family like his.

Oh he's gay alright (though the boy he brought doesn't even consider him a friend, just an annoyance). ]

[ She smiles. ] Don't worry, I used to go to a prestigious private school for girls. I know classic dances.

[watchthenails]

How lucky for me then. [ He chuckles. ] That sounds somewhat like my school back home. Aside from the fact that Hyoutei is co-ed.

Hillard was an all girls school. But there was a private school for boys' nearby. A couple of times a year, the schools would come together and plan a dance. It was fun.

[watchthenails]

That does sound like fun. [ He leads her into a waltz. Maybe not the most ideal given the music, but not the most off either. At least it's pretty easy to match the steps to the beat. ] Do you miss it?

[ A waltz is easy enough to follow.

She looks thoughtful before answering. ]

Not really. I actually miss the school I moved to last year. Never thought I'd say that though.

[watchthenails]

Surprising things can happen, can't they? [ He winks. ] So you switched schools? Or did you graduate from the first one?

God chooses to gift us in strange ways. [ She giggles. ] I switched schools. My mom got remarried and moved us from New York to Oklahoma.

[watchthenails]

[ He chuckles. ] That might be the case, yes. And that is quite the move. Unless I remember wrong.

[thenewnancydrew]

It is quite a move. [ She sighs. ] I feel like we're just talking about me. Why don't we talk about you? Tell me about yourself.

[watchthenails]

Me? Well, before I was brought here I went to a prestigious private school. If I had still been there I would have moved to the high school department just about last month.

[thenewnancydrew]

You're just going into high school? [ Wow, he looks way older than that. ]

[watchthenails]

Yes, I am. [ He chuckles. ] But most of us look older than we are. [ Especially Kabaji. ]

[thenewnancydrew]

Us? [ She tilts her head. ] Are you like, a part of a cult?
