Because he can't stop himself from making a movie reference, the theme of this year's Prom is "Enchantment Under the Sea". (Don't get too freaked out, Marty McFly.) Equipment has been moved out, seating has been set near tables and walls, and a makeshift stage has been constructed to host the DJing equipment. Quinn has music up until 2010, so a large variety of music will get played. There's plenty of food and drinks - including spiked, and very-much-not-spiked punch (magically protected, thanks to Ilsa). In a corner is a small set up for people who wish to get their photos taken by Tsukasa.

The party is under way - have yourselves a good time, Mayfield!

They're making the most of their time here, I suppose...though I have to admit, I didn't realize so many would be here. I don't like crowds.

[He nods.]

Back home, yes. I've only just started to pull together some equipment here. Even got a darkroom set up.

[He's pleased he made her smile like that...which is actually a somewhat confusing emotion, but he'll just roll with it.]

People like an excuse to get together. And come out. And dress up nice. [She absently touches the scarf wrapped around her neck, the same newly-blossomed smile still on her lips. A bit of an admission that, in spite of herself, she's still one of those people.]

Photography's a nice hobby. Useful one, too. Mmm, what do you like taking pictures of the most?

I'm starting to realize that. It's not like there are many chances to do that around here, either.

[He looks thoughtful at that question.]

Humans, I suppose. It's...easier to try to understand them that way. That's how I started out with the camera, anyway.

Mostly you stay in your house and go to your job and... wait, it seems. There's so much waiting. I hate it.

[She looks thoughtful in return, eyes drifting to his camera.]

I see. Observing is one way to come to understand something.

...would you take a picture of me?

Enough waiting to lend credibility to the thought that this is all some bizarre psychological experiment...and some of us are more prone to snapping than others.

[At her request, he gives her a smile and a nod.]

Of course.

[He starts to take the picture and pauses. When he speaks, he sounds a little concerned. Sudden bright lights at someone who has issues with the sun might be a problem.]

Will the flash bother you? I can make allowances with the exposure, if you prefer.

One part psychological experiment... one part something else. I have my suspicions that there's more to it than just fucking with our heads.

[When he starts to move away to take the picture, she holds up a finger in a "one moment" gesture. She seems to be resettling herself to pose, but she's also expending a bit of the power in her vitae to make sure that she'll actually be nice and clear on camera.

But he raises an important additional question.]

I'll be fine. I'm expecting it... and I'm feeling good tonight. Flash away.

Might I ask what else you think this is accomplishing? I'm always up for a good theory.

[He's framing up the shot now that he's been given the go-ahead, and when she looks like she's ready, he takes the shot with the flash.]

I think it'll come out quite nicely.

People have a spiritual energy to them. Life force, willpower, something else that can't quite be codified... something may be trying to harness it. I've read the pamphlets and papers and Ilsa's notes.... I could be wrong. But I could be right, too.

[There's a stiffening of her spine and a tension in her body when the flash goes off, but it lasts for but a moment. She was ready, and she's strong when it comes to resisting such things. Usually.]

I look forward to seeing it! I don't usually have a lot of pictures taken.

That makes sense...they've drawn such a wide range of beings, they've gathered a fine sampling of life energies. It would definitely explain a few things...

[He looks thoughtful checking the camera now, making sure that film's advancing as it should.]

I'll bring a few prints by once I have them ready. Shouldn't be but a couple of days.

And some very powerful energies, too, if some of the people I've met so far are any indication. [There's a little inclination of her head in his direction. Yeah. He's apparently a pretty powerful one.]

No hurry on the development. I can be patient.

Very powerful indeed.

[He nods back. Being the would-be world destroyer that he is, he's the nastiest thing on his world, and he knows it.]

Well, I like to take care of the better shots first. I think this will be one of them.

I hope it is. Although... if it comes out a little blurry, it's not your fault. Cameras and I don't always get along....

Still...I rather like a challenge.
