PROM, PART 2

Because he can't stop himself from making a movie reference, the theme of this year's Prom is "Enchantment Under the Sea". (Don't get too freaked out, Marty McFly.) Equipment has been moved out, seating has been set near tables and walls, and a makeshift stage has been constructed to host the DJing equipment. Quinn has music up until 2010, so a large variety of music will get played. There's plenty of food and drinks - including spiked, and very-much-not-spiked punch (magically protected, thanks to Ilsa). In a corner is a small set up for people who wish to get their photos taken by Tsukasa.

The party is under way - have yourselves a good time, Mayfield!

There may have been a Morgana, I am not certain. That being said I have not had tea with any of that trio.

No, but I have had to many times given the work I do.

"That we may get together for coffee or tea sometime, to get to know each other better."

[Cade was tempted to suggest more, but thinks better of it.]

Perhaps once I recover from the failure of my duty. Or figure a way free of the may of Erebus myself. One that does not involve bloodshed as it would probably be mine.

[Cade clearly doesn't understand.]

It is a long story, and one that makes little sense if one does not deal with Gods or has not made a contract with the master.

True, but does she explain to you the innermost workings of how the universes function and keep from destroying each other, or merely use you as an errand boy?

There is no shame in the later, just, explaining things that work on levels above Gods is hard with.... No context to work from.

[Cade arches his brow.]
"So... You understand these things?"

I do, for I was created to help my master in mediating some of the disputes these Gods had over the various realms.

"That sounds very interesting. But, does that mean you have no freedom?"

Does freedom even exist?

[Cade, being a champion of the goddess of freedom, is especially taken back by that question.]

"What!? Of course it does!"

Humans are born, they are given parents that give them training and genes, but they have a role to play, they play that role, they die. In the end that is the way the universe works. In the end that's why I left my position.

[Except for Cade, whose goddess charged him with helping people break free of their roles. But I guess that means she gave him a role. He could always break from his role, but then others would still have their roles and... Oh dear, I've gone cross eyed.]

"I think... There's more to it than that.
...But you left your position?"

I did. I left to save a soul from its fate. Though, given that the master accepted my resignation, I perhaps am merely doing as the universe wants. That being said, if one were to ponder such things one would never accomplish anything.

"That sounds like a fascinating story. Why did you leave to help this soul?

...was it love?"

Why else would I?

"I knew it! What was his name? How did he come to your attention? What made you fall in love? What happened after you quit for him? Or was it a she? I guess I shouldn't assume.
Oh I love a good love story!"
