[After he acted like a complete asshole on Valentine's Day, Karkat really needs to make things right with his hopefully-still-girlfriend. (On the other hand, she totally went for the black kissing just so she could lick his blood, which is a completely nauseating thought, and she made out with at least two other guys. He's trying very hard not to be bothered by either of those things.)

Humans in movies apologize with flowers and normally some red roses would seem like a good idea, but for the time being plant life doesn't seem like the best pic. Instead, he picks up some Valentine candy hearts and spends some time trying to make her a card, going through several drafts until he stumbles on a design terrible enough for her.

With that done, he'll go to her hive and knock.]

[Terezi takes the candy and the card. she sniffs it. her eyes widen. she licks it.

Oh, god, it's awful! I love it! [after a pause, she throws caution to the wind and puts her arms around him, hugging him tightly, feeling immensely relieved.]

[He puts his arms around her back, holding her tightly, feeling relieved himself (if a little embarrassed).]

I'm really sorry about everything.

You do realize that wasn't me, right?

It's okay, Karkat. I'm sorry, too! It was stupid. Everything that happened was stupid.

Weeell... [speaking into a muffled way against his hair.] Was it a double like that one time? You kept saying it wasn't.

It was some moronic Mayfield thing that changed the way I felt about everyone. So I wound up liking assholes like Doc Scratch and hating people like you and Gamzee and...everyone I don't hate.

So then...

[well, if the flowers had made Karkat hate her and Gamzee and like Doc Scratch and himself, then...

oh. she goes quiet.]

What? Do you have a problem with that? This kind of thing was happening to everyone.

[He honestly can't tell what she's bothered by.]

...So does that explain how you were talking about yourself too?

[Oh.]

Yeah, I guess it does. That was honestly embarrassing.

[catches his face in her hands]

It's not embarrassing. [what does she even say, though? she falters.] I think you're amazing, you know.

[He just looks embarrassed and uncomfortable at being complimented like that, but he can't really look away like he wants to with her hands right there.]

Thanks...

I mean, I like...I think you're amazing, too.

[Terezi grins without releasing him.]

Then give me a kiss!

[He's feeling self-conscious already and being told to kiss her just makes him feel more self-conscious, but he's still going to do it. He puts his hands around the back of her neck and pulls her close before meeting her mouth with his.]

Hehehe.

[yaaaaaaay. Terezi lets the kiss linger, pleased with her little victory, then releases him when she's satisfied.]

Hey, come and sit down and eat this candy with me- oh, wait, no, I have a better idea! We should go somewhere.

[He lets her pull away, still just a little red at the cheeks. Even though they've been together for a while now, he still flusters easily, particularly when he'd come here so nervous. It's a more comfortable kind of embarrassment than the kind he'd felt when she'd called him amazing, though. Compliments that strong unsettle him, leave him with an odd sense of guilt. But just being with her and enjoying himself with her makes him feel flustered and shy but also happy.]

[he smells totally delicious right now, but she's tactful enough not to point it out.]

[And he's trying to think through the possibilities in his head-- the fancy human romance place turned out to be a lot of money and not very good food, the movie theater is something probably only he will enjoy...]

[she steeples her fingers together. she knows Karkat would probably like watching one of the human romance films, and she's aware that a movie theater is basically a room with an enormous screen. an enormous screen filled with color. as Terezi moves on to explain out loud:] It will be like an olfactory feast for me and a soulful emotional touching blubbery religious experience for you.

Oh. You sure?

[He knows she doesn't like his stupid movies, but he thinks it'd be fun to watch one with her even if he knows she won't really be into it the way he is (or maybe she will realize how romantic it is while watching it and decides she likes these movies after all?).]

I know there's a good one playing today, but we can watch something else if you want.

Oh, Karkat, do not pretend as though this idea doesn't set your vascular organ all pitter-patter. Pitters and patters are pretty much spilling out of your ears right now.

I have made my choice, and that choice is to go to the movies.

I'm not denying I like fucking movies, I'm just saying I can watch them on my own!

[Getting out his wallet! He isn't crazy about movie theater candy (though he does like popcorn a lot), but he will be a good date and pay.]
