[Kyon came into his house to sit on the couch after school, Haruhi not far behind. He took a glance at the flowers on the table. They'd just turned up yesterday out of the blue, like many things do in Mayfield. ... They didn't have that fragrance before now though, did they?]

[ Whenever weird things happen in Mayfield, Haruhi was the type of person to become cautious. But seriously, though — flowers? Haruhi wasn't the romantic type, even at Valentine's Day; she believed that love was some sort of mental illness. A temporary lapse of judgment.

It was one thing to have a bouquet, but mysterious white daisies? Lame. ]

[In his typical sarcastic tone, Kyon'll say...]

... Haruhi, you have actually realised that this is my house, right? Yours is the one next door.

[... To be fair, she does seem to spend a lot of time here.]

[ Haruhi gives her usual pout before folding her arms. ] So what? I'm not allowed to visit my fellow brigade members' houses, now?

[Sigh...]

Y'know, those flowers didn't smell so much this morning.

Seriously? [ A beat. ] ... Weird.

[Sigh... And he'll look away.]

[ Curiosity killed the Shamisen! So, even if Kyon will look away, Haruhi will approach the flowers, wondering if there's anything special about them... ]

Hm? What are you doing?

What does it look like I'm doing? I'm checking to see if these flowers are different than regular flowers! [ Because they might be flowers from outer space or something that are disguised as.. regular flowers. Yeah. ]

[ Something was wrong.

Actually, I could have quoted everything from Endless Eight, but I'll refrain. Haruhi, at this point is still asleep, though she may stir a little bit every once in a while. Kyon, what do? ]

[O-oh, this is awkward...]

[ And Haruhi opens one eye and then the next and stares at Kyon. ... Staaaare. ]

[Staaaaaare back...]

Move over. I'm going to make breakfast. [ She'll be lenient today. But only today. ]

O-Okay...

[And he'll move as she asks?]

[ And she'll frown slightly before raiding the kitchen to make breakfast. ]

[And... Kyon'll go down as well and sit down.]

15th; ACTUAL PROSE IN THE LOGS?!

Haruhi Suzumiya wasn’t going to school today. It wasn’t because she hated school, no – in fact, she didn’t like the curriculum, but that wasn’t the point. It was because of what she had realized early in the morning. Okay, she had to admit that things were ridiculously unusual in Mayfield, but this takes the cake.

Feelings of love were not meant to be abused, even though she didn’t have any. No, that was a lie. She just told herself that state of mind was a mental illness, a temporary lapse in judgment.

But she knew better.

Too bad, Kyon. If you’re planning on talking to Haruhi, you might as well give up. At least, don’t try to confront her during school hours (if, of course, you were planning to go to school in the first place), because Haruhi is staying at home. Thankfully, she didn’t have drones for parents, so she didn’t have to deal with those types of problems.

She’ll be waiting at home, though. All day today.

… So Kyon, are you going to visit Haruhi or not?

As much as he didn't care for school here, Kyon did indeed go today, as missing multiple days in a row was generally a bad idea. Noticing that Haruhi wasn't there at all, he drops by her house first thing after school...

Knock, knock...

She was sitting on the couch, dozing off – as there wasn’t much to do. She felt melancholy, and her sixth sense told her to not open that door, but then again, she was bored.

Boredom was more of a disease than love was here, even if there were a batch of interesting people in this town. It was like having time travelers, espers, sliders, and aliens all bunched up in one place! Some of what was true. As she placed her hand on the doorknob, she hesitated –

What if she was wrong?

After a small sigh, Haruhi turned the doorknob, still dressed in her pajamas: a yellow tank top with matching colored loose pants. She was, of course, also wearing plain sandals to match. When the door opened, Haruhi’s mouth gaped slightly, though she wasn’t mad.

At least, she wasn’t mad at Kyon. She was mad at herself.

“Kyon…”

"... Yo. What's up?" Kyon stood there, wearing his North High uniform. Not that it was really necessary, but he just felt better about going to school if he wore something to make it a bit more like home.

“What do you think?” Haruhi replied, pouting as she crossed her arms. She wasn’t exactly pleased that she was right about the fact that Kyon was coming, nor was she happy about what happened in the two days before.

It was obvious, wasn’t it?

"Right, so uh..." Kyon trailed off a little. 'I should've thought about what I'd say before I came here...' he thought to himself.

“What?” Haruhi gave her usual glare, folding her arms as she spoke. “If you don’t have anything to say, then leave.”

[slave_of_suzumiya]

"You weren't at school today."

Well, that's a subject, right?
