DA Meeting #4 [OPEN]

What: Defense Association meeting, the fourth.
Where: Mayfield High School's Gym
When: Thursday, after dark.

There isn't a whole lot of set-up to do for the meeting. Beyond a table or two rolled in from the cafeteria in case anyone needs to set something down somewhere and convincing a teacher or a janitor to let them use the indoor bleachers, that's all. There are places to sit, the lights are on, it isn't cold except by the door (which is propped open by a brick). What more could they need?

[Dakki is here! And as promised, she brought sandwiches. Although she arrived empty-handed, she heads to the table in the back and starts to sort of... produce tupperware containers from nowhere. A reach behind herself, a blue glow, and.... fwooosh, snacks.

As she sets them all out on the table, she hums to herself. There's egg salad, tuna salad, ham and cheese, peanut butter and jelly, and cucumber and cream cheese. All cut into little dainty triangles, all pretty edible-looking.]

[Close behind her is Date who is looking around, having arrived shortly after she had asked him to come. At least it doesn't look bad at least.]

Ah! Date! Hello!

[She turns about and waves at him! ...and then, with another reaching motion and some more blue glowing, she produces two empty plastic pitchers.]

Say, if it's not too much trouble, could you fill these with water?

[And she smiles brightly. Surely he can't refuse a smile that bright.]

Sure thing! I'll go get it filled up in a second. [And he takes the pitchers and heads off for the fountains. He's back in a little bit, holding them up.]

Got em filled!

[By the time he gets back, Dakki seems to have finished arranging the sandwiches to her satisfaction. She has stepped back and is standing there, hands on her hips, rather pleased with herself.]

...Ooh! Excellent!

[She reaches out for them, and once they're handed over she'll set them on the table and get to work mixing in powdered fruit punch mix.]

I'm so glad you could come, Date! I don't think things have really gotten started yet, so don't worry! You haven't missed anything.

Ah anything really t'learn how things go down in this town. Don't worry bout it, I'll be able to help as much as possible!

[And he thumbs upped for that.]

It'll be a good way to get up to speed! And to meet more people, too.

[Oooh, a thumbs up. She gives one in return, smiling.]

Yeah, and I wouldn't feel right helping out to be honest. Not after what I've been through.

Mm... [She gives her head a curious tilt.] How long have you been in town again, Date?

[Mmmm sandwiches. There's a very small boy peering over the edge of the table, before giving her a polite smile.]

Are these for everyone?

Absolutely! I made them for everyone, and you're definitely part of everyone. [She giggles.] Help yourself!

[Then excuse him while he eats ALL THE TUNA EVER!]

Wow, these are delicious!

You... you really think so?

[Oh that has put her over the moon with joy. Compliments! On her food! Only Chen ever did that, and only when it was pancakes or fish sticks...

And they actually are fairly nice tuna sandwiches. There's even bits of celery for crunch.]

[He is wolfing them down as though he's never eaten before, tuna is his kryptonite...]

Really! They're the nicest sandwiches I've ever had, ma'am!

Well, thank you! Although you don't have to exaggerate to make me feel better. Just "good" sandwiches are enough.

[Oh, his enjoyment is so cute. She giggles again.]

I'm not exaggerating, honestly! They're much better than drone-made sandwiches, and Abel won't make tuna because he whines it makes his hands smell fishy.

[OMNOMNOMNOM.]

Oh! ...he won't make you them just because of that? That's not very nice!

[She felt a sudden need to find this Abel guy to lecture him...]

It's not too hard to make tuna sandwiches. I imagine you could make them yourself, if they're letting you use the can opener. Then you could have them when you want, hmm?

[She takes one of the cucumber and cream cheese sandwiches for herself, in the meanwhile.]

[ With all of her life spent in a Japanese like place, sandwiches were still quite the odd sight. She didn't know what they were named, how they were made or what they tasted like.

So cue Tsuande looking pretty surprised by the snacks. The snacks everywhere. ]

Are sandwiches really made that quickly?!

Aah? [The question startles her a bit. She knocks a few little sandwich triangles askew from the nice stack she had been making on a plate.]

Oh, I made them at home! I just brought them here in my nano-storage, because it's easier! But they're very easy to make.

Nano-storage? That sounds like the scroll system we use back home. [ Tsunade will just... start picking up the stray sandwiches and start stacking them with her ninja dexterity. ] Sorry for startling you. How long did these things take to make? And how did you make them anyways? [ Help her discover the wonders of sandwiches... ]

Ah, maybe it is? Things are so different from world to world. [Dakki seems quite happy for the sandwich assistance. Setup will be so easy, with someone so dexterous helping out!]

That's alright! And... not too long. I bought the bread at the store. And I just had to put the fillings on the bread. Preparing the tuna salad and egg salad took the longest, really... I had to chop celery and onions.

I don't think it is. For one, you need to have scrolls in order to store them. [ Tsuande will definitely give 110% to making sure these sandwiches are properly arranged. ]

Hm. So, [ She's heard of a sandwich before, and heard vague allusions to their contents but now she seems to be picking up on the, ahem, meat of the idea. ] they're just something in between two slices of bread? That's a sandwich? [ This is the delicious treat her drone husband is being a pain in the ass about? B| ]

Well, you need to have a Nano Transformer to use nano-storage... [Dakki gives a little shrug.] Proper equipment is always important.

[And then... oh, is that lineface? That seems to be lineface on the other woman's face.] That's a sandwich! I think the actual challenge is putting things on the bread that taste good when combined....

You should try the cucumber and cream cheese! It's very refreshing!

Well then, it sounds more similar than what I imagined. [ She's fine with this. ]

Huh. You think if I just let the drone taste test they'd be able to tell me what's good and what's not? [ TRIAL BY ERROR. Nothing says error like a bunch of spikes in a sandwich. ]

It is? I would have never guessed. I'll be sure to try that when I get home. [ Cream cheese is definitely not something she ever would have used back home. Even here, she heard it was only used for bagels. Well, she'll take the risk. This girl seems to know what she's doing. ]

No, I'm not sure that the drones are a very good judge of flavor... you should find a real person to do your taste-testing! Or try yourself. You have a sense of taste, right? I don't. Not exactly. It's sort of different. [All said quite brightly!]
