DA Meeting #4 [OPEN]

What: Defense Association meeting, the fourth.
Where: Mayfield High School's Gym
When: Thursday, after dark.

There isn't a whole lot of set-up to do for the meeting. Beyond a table or two rolled in from the cafeteria in case anyone needs to set something down somewhere and convincing a teacher or a janitor to let them use the indoor bleachers, that's all. There are places to sit, the lights are on, it isn't cold except by the door (which is propped open by a brick). What more could they need?

Wow, these are delicious!

You... you really think so?

[Oh that has put her over the moon with joy. Compliments! On her food! Only Chen ever did that, and only when it was pancakes or fish sticks...

And they actually are fairly nice tuna sandwiches. There's even bits of celery for crunch.]

[He is wolfing them down as though he's never eaten before, tuna is his kryptonite...]

Really! They're the nicest sandwiches I've ever had, ma'am!

Well, thank you! Although you don't have to exaggerate to make me feel better. Just "good" sandwiches are enough.

[Oh, his enjoyment is so cute. She giggles again.]

I'm not exaggerating, honestly! They're much better than drone-made sandwiches, and Abel won't make tuna because he whines it makes his hands smell fishy.

[OMNOMNOMNOM.]

Oh! ...he won't make you them just because of that? That's not very nice!

[She felt a sudden need to find this Abel guy to lecture him...]

It's not too hard to make tuna sandwiches. I imagine you could make them yourself, if they're letting you use the can opener. Then you could have them when you want, hmm?

[She takes one of the cucumber and cream cheese sandwiches for herself, in the meanwhile.]

[Cain would laugh if she did, considering he's not exactly telling the truth and is just trolling.]

Don't worry, I can use the can opener, I do a lot of the cooking at my house... if Abel did it, we'd all be killed.

[And that? That's not a lie, Abel is the WORST COOK EVER.]

[She pauses, there, staring at the boy with uncertainty and concern.]

...that's an exaggeration, right? Although... I'm happy to hear that the cooking does get done....

Not really, Abel is pretty much a disaster area in the kitchen, he might kill us all if he cooked.

[Exaggerate? Cain? Never.]

But... [She's taking this far too literally, and trying to think of ways that one could actually kill someone in the kitchen.]

...does he handle knives poorly? Does he let towels drape onto the stove and become a fire hazard? Does he leave things out overnight to accumulate bacteria? He... that is... I suppose it's good that someone more capable is cooking...

He does all of those things and more, his actual cooking is considered a weapon of mass destruction and he's forbidden from using it.

[Nomnom, he'll just eat the last of these tuna sandwiches as he glibly trolls.]
