A beautiful summer day in Mayfield should never be wasted, even if they're all beautiful. So, why not stop by the pool for some food, drinks and games? And of course, swimming.

[ Ilsa settles back, and smiles at him. ]

You're lucky I don't have my cousin's twisted sense of humor, or you'd be wearing a thong by now.

[He lofts a brow.]

You've got the build for it, and it's less conspicuous here than the uniform.

[ She smiles brightly at him. ] It would mean that I'm helping!

So, observing... hang on a minute. [ She leans forward, and lowers her voice. ] Why are you squinting?

I don't think wearing a thong would be helping.

[He blinked.]

Squinting?... Ah, the sun is... bright.

[ She turns a little serious. ]... and the shades aren't enough? How long has it been this bad?

[ She starts rummaging in her huge beach bag for something. ]

I suppose I should work on that.

[He thought for a moment.]

I feel as though it was somehow connected to the package I received in the mail.

[ Ilsa pulls a man's straw Panama hat out of the bag, and puts it on Barry's head. The wide brim does manage to shade his eyes more without blocking his vision. ]

Were you mostly nocturnal before they pulled you in here?

[He didn't look too thrilled with the hat... but when did he ever looked pleased with anything?]

My night vision was always better... I'm thinking it has something to do with my... ah...

[How does he explain having a second pair of optics?...]

Then you probably got your night vision, with an increased sensitivity.

[ He may not look thrilled with the hat, but it's a good looking one. ]

I'm not an ophthalmologist, but I can give you a basic exam, make sure your eye health is okay. Not here, though, come see me sometime next week.

If it's just gaining your abilities back, we might see about finding some better shades for you, to make you more comfortable.

Speaking of being comfortable, that dark uniform is going to be really warm in an hour or so. You really didn't bring anything else to change into?

Next time, you might consider a lighter shirt, or something you could wear in the pool, like a t-shirt.

I require sleeves, so a t-shirt wouldn't do much for me.

Good thing summer's nearly over, then. Not sure where we'd be about to find a full wetsuit for you in town.

I do admit, with the heat of the day, and the sunlight... I tend to stay indoors as often as I can.

When you have to be out during the day, get the seersucker or other cotton shirts in light colors. It really does help.

I suppose, until I know it's safe to wear shorter sleeves...

Safe? Thought you had scar tissue or risque tattoos or something... would sunscreen help?

[ Again she reaches for her bag. ]

The only scar tissue I have, seems to be around my eyes for the time being. ... and as for tattoos? So far, it would seem I have none.

Actually... my forearms aren't normal flesh anymore.

Oh, then normal sunscreen won't help.

[ She leaves off with the bag, and smiles at him. No curiosity, and no aversion is in her expression or posture. ]

Protection comes in many forms, and if long sleeves work for you, that's great.

[ Then Ilsa executes an unsignaled subject change. ] What are you watching for?

[He was silent for a brief moment. Almost as if he were thinking of an excuse.]
