Who: Idiot Brigade Leader and her Equally as Idiotic Lackey!
What: Father's Day Shenanigans.
Where: Their house, and then pretty much all of Mayfield.
When: Father's Day, obviously.
Warnings: None, though that may change later.
Normally, Haruhi wouldn't wake up early on a Sunday morning. Especially when it was summer vacation. But nope, that idea was ruined by the two drone kids who were practically yelling one word repeatedly, endlessly.
"Dad! Daaaad!"
If that didn't wake up Haruhi (or Kyon, even), don't know what will.
Guess it's time to make some breakfast. If Kyon's waking up, he'll see Haruhi, barely dressed cooking something special. More special than their usual breakfast.

There must obviously be a reason why she's cooking more than usual, right? Right?!

Totally the reason why she actually made more for lunch. Totally. Of course, that isn't the reason at all, but— she should just play it cool. There's no reason why Mayfield would be doing anything today of all days. Today was just an ordinary Sunday, after all. The kids were just being annoying because they were drones.

Kyon wondered to himself, is she taking some kind of angle here?

To be honest, the drone kids were pretty much like excessive pets to Haruhi. At least they weren't teenagers. Because they would annoy Haruhi even more than one million men from back home. "And before you ask, I'm making this because I want to. I don't have any ulterior motive for doing it."
As soon as she said that, though, she gave Kyon a glare for a few seconds before looking back at the food. The glare had no menace, though, and that wasn't like her at all. What was wrong with her?
no subject
Kyon notes that it was a pretty weak glare on her part.

... Wait, what? Okay, sure, Haruhi wasn't the type of person to actually do nice things most of the time. But hey, she could be nice one day out of the whole year! Except Haruhi knew, deep inside, that something was definitely wrong, though it wasn't a horrible thing.
Not yet, anyway.
"Here," Haruhi said in a nonchalant voice as she gave him a plate full of Japanese delicacies. And yes, they are tasty. After all, she was the one who cooked it!

Haruhi immediately folded her arms, looking away as she huffed towards her seat... right in front of him. This was not going to help at all, no way. Especially when she was feeling so generous towards Kyon. It was a weird feeling, but it wasn't horrible at all.
Flattening her top a little bit, she sat down, legs crossed and gave the immediate, "Thanks for the food!" before picking up her fork to eat the food. It was obvious, though, that she was avoiding Kyon's glance.

"... What's up?"
no subject
More than it should, really.

Of course, that wasn't going to convince Kyon one bit. Haruhi was never good at lying, and the fact that she was shifting uncomfortably in her seat wasn't helping at all one bit. Damn it, Mayfield. Damn it, Kyon.

After a deep sigh, she replied with a, "I think I'm acting weird."
Maybe.
She couldn't be too sure.

"Yeah." But when she looked up at Kyon, she actually smiled a little. She wasn't angry at him, at least, not now. It wasn't his fault after all. "But it's... not bad, is it?"
Please tell her that it's not bad. Just do it now.

Why, she asked herself, frowning. It was like she was trying to please the idiot, and that was something that she didn't want, of all things. It made her cringe, but it wasn't like she was going to admit it. Not to Kyon. If he knew about this, who knows what the world could come to?
no subject
"... What are you doing?"
no subject
Except she wasn't, really, but she had to lie to distract herself from... that. And of course it wasn't helping. She had to do her best in order to not want to be nice, or even remotely helpful. Sure, she loved Kyon - but that didn't mean that she wanted to change for him.
Though she did know that sometimes, change was good!
