The log will be split into two entries to keep the size manageable. In this thread is the Dance Floor, Food & Drinks Table, and Outside/Around the Rec Center!

Because he can't stop himself from making a movie reference, the theme of this year's Prom is "Enchantment Under the Sea". (Don't get too freaked out, Marty McFly.) Equipment has been moved out, seating has been set near tables and walls, and a makeshift stage has been constructed to host the DJing equipment. There's plenty of food and drinks - including spiked, and very-much-not-spiked punch (magically protected, thanks to Ilsa). In a corner is a small set up for people who wish to get their photos taken by Tsukasa.

The party is under way - have yourselves a good time, Mayfield!

Of course, though I think they're a bit silly for opening themselves up to ridicule by dancing.

[He would probably do the chicken dance. And love it.]

Miss Esther is quite good at dancing, actually. I haven't seen Father yet, and while she did confirm that he's attending, I don't see him doing too well on the dance floor either. [She'll smile at that, but onto more serious matters.] How long have you been out here? I'm sure that they'll start getting worried, if you stay out for too long.

Not long, they won't have missed me by now, trust me.

[Which is true, they can't have missed someone that they were never expecting to attend the prom, right?]

[She'll give a small nod.]

Just out for some fresh air, then?

[He gestures to the window he can see through from his lovely perch on the branch.]

And to watch the dancers, of course. You don't have to wait out here with me, I'll find my own way in when I'm ready.

I'm sure you will, but it must still be lonely out here. May I join you for a little? [what do you mean a tux isn't good for tree climbing, that won't stop her!!]

[Oh. Well, actually, he kind of does mind. He's very busy spying on his brother and Aurora, so he just doesn't have time for idle chit-chat. But he can't exactly say that, so he just gives her one of his trademark smiles.]

Not at all, you know I always enjoy spending time with you, Miss Ciel.

[she is

actually hoping that the innocuous request would pass, whether by Cain's autopilot politeness or how harmless joining him sounds. because if she gets up there, that would allow her to perhaps also catch a glimpse of what he's so hellbent on seeing. she already has her doubts, and his reassurances aren't really making those fade...

On the surface though, she'll easily chuckle that flattery off.]

I am here mostly as a chaperone, so I can't be away for too long. Don't worry, I won't pester you for the rest of the evening. [That said, after giving the tree he's in a quick glance...

She'll step aside and circle the tree once to pick out a good branch close to his, before leaping up and lodging herself in a good position with one jump. Was her carefully watching her the whole way through? Because that took less than a second and would have been very easy to miss. He has seen her jump rooftops before so this shouldn't be surprising, but well, still.]

[He doesn't watch her, but when he feels the tree shake slightly barely a couple of seconds later then it's not hard to deduce she had made it in one jump. While this doesn't surprise him after what he's seen her do already, it does pique his curiosity again.]

Really? Who are you chaperoning?

[It's not too hard to see who he might be spying on, there's Abel and Aurora raiding the food table like gluttons.]

[She's good where she is, being careful to not have branches or bark tear at the fabric of her suit. One of the perks of dressing up like this: out of place as it might be, she wouldn't be able to do something like this in a dress.]

There's Merem and the girls from my household, for one. The prom was originally organized by the high school, so as a staff member, I helped with the setup and the food tables also. Did you go in at all and tried anything out? Not everything is sweet, you know.

[She's glancing at him with faint amusement, but her sharp eyes do lock onto target the moment she reaches his eye level. ...Ah, so he is watching his brother like a hawk, and that woman...

Huh. She's not acquainted with Aurora, but she might've seen her around town once or twice. Abel's something of a social butterfly, so Ciel doesn't see anything strange with him being in the company of another woman. Maybe he's just saying hi to some of his other friends here, that's pretty normal. Still... Is Cain watching her, also?]

[He's doing very well at hiding it, but there a few subtle tells as to how much he dislikes the woman standing with Abel. His fingers are ever so slightly tensed in the fabric of his trousers and his eyes follow her without wavering to anyone else.

She's trying to take his brother from him, trying to take what belongs to him, he won't miss a second of this.]

I couldn't even go in for food, people are waiting to ambush me and make me dance, and I've said I really can't do that. I'm more than happy watching from up here.

[She'll look back and forth to try tracking his gaze specifically, given that at a simple face glance, it's rather clear that he's staring down with uncharacteristic intensity. Even thinking it logically though, he lives with Abel. Cain sees him every day, so why exactly would he need to watch him with so much attention now? If it's not the individual, it must be the context and the setting: time and location must be factors, as well as other elements in the surroundings. Hm...

She can tell something's bothering him, she already doesn't buy the 'afraid to dance' excuse. But what's the real reason...?]

You're making an awfully big deal out of it, Cain. There are actually a lot of wallflowers inside, some people do prefer to chat by the tables or keep to themselves instead of socializing too much. I'm sure that you won't get asked out of nowhere by a random person right away. [hm...] Unless you're expecting anyone in particular?

[She'll crack his excuse a little more without breaking it. That's the plan for now; she'll close in on the real problem later.]

[It's not so much Abel that he's watching, as it is Aurora. He is fairly certain that she is the instigator of this little date, and he wants to see what devious ploys she is using to try and steal his brother (because that's absolutely the truth of what's happening).

He tears his gaze away for a moment to look at Ciel, putting on a thoughtful expression and sighing in a mock mournful manner.]

I'm just so popular, Miss Ciel, there could be hoards of people waiting to ambush me when I step through the doors.

[She will give him

a not very convinced look, but with a smile nevertheless. The fact that he has failed to provide a name only seems to add to the poor excuse, but hmm, there should be other ways...]

You could at least save me from the suspense and give a few names, Cain. I didn't know you were such a charmer. There's no drone attending, either. Did you meet the girls at school?

[Luckily for him, but unluckily for Ciel's theory, Cain actually had been hounded by a few people to attend the prom and so he did have a credible list of names.]

Taki, Miss Ako, Vivio, and Kyoya, to name just a few.

[She giggles at that. He does get around - much like his brother, but in very different ways, that she can confidently say even without investigating further both their acquaintances. Well, he's got that one, but the entirety of her ploy certainty didn't revolve around that. Changing angles, then.]

My, you've been busy. Did you step inside at all since you got here, then?

I went in briefly earlier, but I was almost accosted, so I came out before I could be mobbed.

[AKA Aurora had seen him and he had to flee before Abel did too.]

I see, that does sound troublesome. [a beat.

let's let go of that, now.] Are you hungry or thirsty? I could bring you something out here, if you'd like?

[He doesn't want Ciel subtly telling anyone he's out here or anything like that, so he shakes his head.]

There's really no need to worry, I've everything I need, you go back and enjoy the dance.

[She doesn't know herself, though she may just keep it down because she'd like to get more details on her own first.]

Hmm, are you sure? It really wouldn't be any trouble.. You're not cold out here, either? [Then let her fret some more...]

I'm really sure, and I made sure to put plenty of layers on.

[The smile he gives her is as polite and perfect as ever, but there's a distinct look in his eyes that says he wants to be alone.]

I feel bad enough for keeping you from the party this long, I'd never forgive myself if you were gone much longer.

[She'll carefully eye him head to toe one more time, and.. hm...]

Okay, if you say so. And it's fine! I've been inside since before the prom even began. They won't miss me for a few more minutes. [No, not yet...

Her eyes fall back to where his gaze was once at.] You have a surprisingly clear view from here, but that's the food tables, isn't it? The dance floor is a bit further down. [Leaning forward a bit, admittedly just for show...] --Oh, is that your brother?

[Her nonchalance is fooling nobody, just as Cain's is pretty transparent as well. Anyone who had met him for even five minutes would know that his gaze would naturally fall on Abel.]

I think so, he's come with Miss Aurora.

[losers attempting to fool fellow losers.....]

Miss Aurora? Hmm, I think I've seen her around town before. Doesn't she teach at the elementary? Do you remember her as one of your teachers, Cain?

I don't think I've ever had her as a teacher myself, she must teach a different grade than mine. But I have met her out of school, she's very nice.

[His tone couldn't be more sincere and pleasant, it seems like he truly does like her and doesn't at all want to drown her in the punch bowl right now.]
