who can say if I've been changed for the better
Who: Poland and Lithuania
When: March 17th
Where: the tavern
What: Lithuania and Poland both decide to go have a drink or five, having spent the last couple of days moping. They run into each other.
Warnings: maybe language?
[Lithuania hadn't really been doing much of anything since that meeting at Ukraine's house. He didn't want to call it moping but in his less proud moments (of which he'd had a few over the last two days) he knew it was, no matter how many times he cleaned and re-cleaned various rooms in the house.
Going to the tavern wasn't really a solution, but he reasoned it couldn't hurt, either, so here he was, sitting at the bar and staring at not much of anything. Even though this was the strongest drink they had, according to the bartender, Lithuania didn't think he'd be getting drunk very quickly with it.]

Vodka... or whatever sucks the least, I guees.
[Poland makes the bar prop up his head for him while he watches his drink get poured.
Nope. Not Vodka. Oh well.]
no subject
Well, his glass. It's empty again.]
no subject
Oh.
[It figures the one time he leaves the house in two days he'd bump into Lithuania. Sure they lived next door to one another so they were bound to collide sometime, but this was just typical bad luck at it's finest.]

It was awkward, almost painfully so.]
Is there something on my face, you keep looking this way.

[Lithuania sighs. There isn't anything to finish that sentence with, and there's nothing in his mind but scrambled thoughts and conflicting emotions and none of that is going to help him come up with any sort of complete thought out loud.]
Nothing.
[He tries to keep his eyes on the table.]

[Poland finishes his drink and considers going home. Maybe he could just buy a bottle or three off the bartender and leave.
Drinking completely alone at home seemed worse though. It had an air of pathetic about it that even Poland wasn't willing to subscribe to, even if he was kind of depressed.]

Of course, it would help if the alcohol was stronger.]

When I get my nationhood back this is going to be impossible to achieve again isn't it.
no subject
[Lthuania looks over at Poland again, surprised the other nation was actually addressing him, before realizing what he's talking about.]
Oh, you're still human, aren't you?
no subject
[Poland will let the bar hold up his head again. Able to get drunk regardless, being human was terrible.]
It's a terrible thing.

[He thinks back as he downs the rest of his latest drink. How many has he had? Losing count probably wasn't a good thing, but he just asks for another.]
It felt odd.
no subject
Empty.
It feels empty.
no subject
...It did.
This is better but I don't know if it's really... That much moreso...
1/2
New Polish Rule: I totally won't accept it not being better than empty!

I think I can feel them. [His people.] Or, I know I can feel them, but I don't know if it's really them or if--
You probably don't care.
[There's not an ounce of venom in it, just Lithuania stating what he's sure is a fact before he drinks some more.]

They feel safe, but I can't see them or ask them if they are. I don't know if this is just how they felt a year ago when I was taken or if...
If Mayfield is just making me think I can feel them somehow. When Estija first arrived, he said something about--about what if when we're taken time keeps going, and if that's really happening...
[The alcohol's helped loosen his tongue enough for this sort of conversation, at least; that and being so used to Poland when it came down to it that somehow even if he wasn't sure they were ever really going to be friends again it seemed like it was okay to tell him this sort of thing.]
no subject
So if you think it's them and they're saying they're fine, then they're fine.
no subject
But what if they're not?
[Lithuania's eternal worried state has been eating away at him for over a year now in regards to his citizens.]
no subject
[Poland purses his lips, looking up at the ceiling of the tavern in thought.]
I think... that you don't like give them enough credit. It's natural and junk to worry, but I think you've done a good enough job to leave them alone for a while without them burning the house down.
Or leaving the bath water running. Either one.
no subject
I suppose you're right.
[He takes a sip.]
I'm sure you've nothing to worry about;there's nothing your people couldn't handle if they decided they were going to deal with it.
no subject
I forget how it works, everything's been gone for too long.
Even all my promises are gone. [He'd wiggle his pinkies at Lithuania if he had them. Instead he gets little stubs in his face.]
no subject
[Another drink finished, though Lithuania doesn't immediately call for another this time, at least.]
I can promise for you, I still have two.

Maybe they weren't friends anymore, but Poland liking Lithuania was probably never going to stop.]
Totally.
