who can say if I've been changed for the better
Who: Poland and Lithuania
When: March 17th
Where: the tavern
What: Lithuania and Poland both decide to go have a drink or five, having spent the last couple of days moping. They run into each other.
Warnings: maybe language?
[Lithuania hadn't really been doing much of anything since that meeting at Ukraine's house. He didn't want to call it moping but in his less proud moments (of which he'd had a few over the last two days) he knew it was, no matter how many times he cleaned and re-cleaned various rooms in the house.
Going to the tavern wasn't really a solution, but he reasoned it couldn't hurt, either, so here he was, sitting at the bar and staring at not much of anything. Even though this was the strongest drink they had, according to the bartender, Lithuania didn't think he'd be getting drunk very quickly with it.]

I think I can feel them. [His people.] Or, I know I can feel them, but I don't know if it's really them or if--
You probably don't care.
[There's not an ounce of venom in it, just Lithuania stating what he's sure is a fact before he drinks some more.]

They feel safe, but I can't see them or ask them if they are. I don't know if this is just how they felt a year ago when I was taken or if...
If Mayfield is just making me think I can feel them somehow. When Estija first arrived, he said something about--about what if when we're taken time keeps going, and if that's really happening...
[The alcohol's helped loosen his tongue enough for this sort of conversation, at least; that and being so used to Poland when it came down to it that somehow even if he wasn't sure they were ever really going to be friends again it seemed like it was okay to tell him this sort of thing.]

So if you think it's them and they're saying they're fine, then they're fine.

But what if they're not?
[Lithuania's eternal worried state has been eating away at him for over a year now in regards to his citizens.]

[Poland purses his lips, looking up at the ceiling of the tavern in thought.]
I think... that you don't like give them enough credit. It's natural and junk to worry, but I think you've done a good enough job to leave them alone for a while without them burning the house down.
Or leaving the bath water running. Either one.

I suppose you're right.
[He takes a sip.]
I'm sure you've nothing to worry about;there's nothing your people couldn't handle if they decided they were going to deal with it.

I forget how it works, everything's been gone for too long.
Even all my promises are gone. [He'd wiggle his pinkies at Lithuania if he had them. Instead he gets little stubs in his face.]

[Another drink finished, though Lithuania doesn't immediately call for another this time, at least.]
I can promise for you, I still have two.

Maybe they weren't friends anymore, but Poland liking Lithuania was probably never going to stop.]
Totally.
