[ With the fire getting steam, Ambrosia sits back at a safe distance with her hands up a bit. The last time she held any kind of bonfire like this was years ago, but with how things were in Mayfield, she thought that there was a need to have at least some kind of party, however small it may be. ]

Hope ye don't mind if I brought a few extra people, pop 'n mum. Thought tha' ye'd like it.

[ Mingle among yourselves - she won't mind. As long as people are having fun, that's what counts. ]

[He looks between her, the fire, and the night sky for a few silent moments - it's a far cry from the slacker who sleeps through class, or the all too energetic brat who leaps atop desks making crazy proclamations. Finally, he just nods at her]

Thanks for setting this whole thing up. It was a good idea.

[ That garners a smile from Ambrosia as she pats the area next to her for him to sit down. ]

Don't mention it. As long as ye feel better in th' end, tha's what matters t' me.

[ She rummages around and finds some soda, offering a can to Black*Star. ]

[This is uncharted territory for him. Even if it doesn't show too outwardly, he feels vulnerable - and to feel like he does and share it with anyone not named Tsubaki is absolutely absurd]

[And yet, he finds himself sitting next to her anyway, taking the can of soda in hand]

[A moment of semi-awkward silence as he opens it and takes a swig]

What about you? Feel any better?

[ After a swig of her own drink, Ambrosia leans back slightly and nods. ]

Aye. I always hold one of these annually, but I think I might increase it in case if people need it.

[Black☆Star considers this for a moment, then considers his own predicament... then nods]

Just don't do it too often. We don't want people to forget how to cope on their own. I don't want it to be a crutch.

Here's me thoughts on tha', mate. Sure, dealin' with yer problems is fine 'n well, but with me own experience, whatever eats at ye can become overpowerin'.

[ And she's definitely not kidding on that. ]

[He's silent for a moment as he struggles with this internally, hands gripping that soda a bit too tight]

I know. Friends can help. I have my team - I really like my team.

But if I rely on them too much, they'll become a crutch. And how am I supposed to get stronger that way? I've got too far to go to stop now!

[ Oh, Black*Star. Ambrosia will merely shake her head while chuckling a bit. ]

Well, ye're entitled t' yer own opinion 'n all. I ain't gonna try t' change yer way of thinkin' if yer settled on tha'.

[He looks over at her, the look on his face far too serious for a boy his age]

You never worry? About losing your own power?

[ The serious look is returned with one of her own before shaking her head. ]

Why should I be? If I know tha' I'm gonna stay on top 'n alive with me own talents 'n skills, I ain't gonna worry. Tha's one of th' joys 'bout bein' a pirate -- ye can be yerself with no one judgin' ye but yerself.

[The thought settles in and the young man's quiet, looking away from her and up at the night sky]

You've never lost to another pirate then? Not even once?

Oh, don't get me wrong. I've suffered plenty of losses throughout th' years, but instead of dwellin' on 'em like some kicked puppy, I pick up th' pieces 'n decide to keep on movin'. If ye stop, ye'll never get t' where ye need t' go.

[He considers her words for a few moments, then he nods and looks over at her with a smile]

[ She returns the smile finally with one of her own. ]
