No one is alone

Who: Kariya Matou, Lancer, Rin Tohsaka, residents of 1666 Nelson Street, and all of Rin's friends.
What: A party to prove to Rin that she has friends.
Where: 1666 Nelson Street.
When: Saturday afternoon.
Warnings: Possible tsunsplosion. Action tags to keep things going.

With the help of Lancer, Kariya had managed to get in touch with all of Rin's friends, acquaintances, and anyone else who views her in the slightest favorable light.  The party had been thrown together somewhat at the last minute, but since it's really just a gathering of friends, there actually wasn't that much specific planning to do.  There's plenty of food and drink - both alcoholic and non - set up in the kitchen and dining room area, and a separate table for anyone bringing presents to set them down.  Apart from that, he's just sitting there with the assembled group of Rin's friends, waiting for her to arrive.

[ That earns a laugh from her, earnest through and through, as Rin brings her own hands to rest over Marisa's arms. Flying like this was a lot better than the last time she made an attempt to. Merem why. ]

I was told there was some kind of invisible war up in the sky so there's no way we can fly very far, huh?

[Marisa rests her chin on Rin's shoulder.]

Yeah... There's a barrier around Mayfield, so even up here we have our limits. Which sucks, ze. I like breaking limits and just going far, far, far... far beyond them.

At least it's peaceful up here. Away from everything else.

Peaceful... Yeah, it kind of is, isn't it?

[ Rin doesn't bother to pull away from the other woman, choosing instead to rest her head against her own. Finding solace in this town was a rarity and Rin's not looking to ruin it anytime soon. ]

Breaking limits? That seems to be your kind of thing, ha.

[Marisa sorely needs it, too. The contact, the closeness, the desire to hold someone she cares for with the hope that she can hold on enough to not have her ripped away. Her arms tighten just a bit about Rin.]

Yeah... It's the only way humans in Gensokyo can get stronger. There's always the danger of breaking too far from the limit too fast and transitioning since the human body can only handle controlling so much, but I've found the line to walk.

I like being human, ze. Don't wanna be anything else.

[The broom rises up over Makeout Point before lazily circling back around. Marisa's in no hurry to take Rin back to the party.]

[ And Rin's certainly in no rush to return. What was her uncle thinking by bringing all of those people in the same house with the intent of showing her they care? It's just a painful reminder of all the faces she didn't see there. Shirou and Sakura just to name a couple, but there have been so many more. Losing Heather and even Vincent made the house Rin was forced into unbearably lonely, as the son of her Servant often spent his days away from it. ]

Magi in my world always want to reach that highest point. [ 'The Root' she should say, but being specific just raises more questions than answers, so she'll leave it with a vague response. ] In doing so, everything they will have ever wanted to know will be answered.

Although if I had to choose between power or being human... [ She sighs at the thought. ] I think I much rather be human.

[Rin wouldn't be able to see it, but Marisa gave the first real smile she had in a while that fully reached her eyes. She turned her head to give Rin a soft kiss on the cheek.]

I like that answer, ze. If you lose yourself to the power, then what's the point in having it, you know?
