Who: Kariya Matou, Lancer, Rin Tohsaka, residents of 1666 Nelson Street, and all of Rin's friends.
What: A party to prove to Rin that she has friends.
Where: 1666 Nelson Street.
When: Saturday afternoon.

With the help of Lancer, Kariya had managed to get in touch with all of Rin's friends, acquaintances, and anyone else who views her in the slightest favorable light.  The party had been thrown together somewhat at the last minute, but since it's really just a gathering of friends, there actually wasn't that much specific planning to do.  There's plenty of food and drink - both alcoholic and non - set up in the kitchen and dining room area, and a separate table for anyone bringing presents to set them down.  Apart from that, he's just sitting there with the assembled group of Rin's friends, waiting for her to arrive.

I see. You're pretty lucky. You can't tell her I said this, but she's pretty good when it comes to magical knowledge. I was lucky that she summoned me.

My lips are sealed. [Marisa makes a 'zip' motion over her mouth.] She's lucky I felt like sharing. We've both benefited greatly from our friendship - not that she'll ever admit I'm a friend.

It's interesting how different worlds with different magic systems can be so compatible. Me and those from my world don't have those magic circuits, ze.

Rin admitting to having friends is a joke. As many as she has, she'll never publicly acknowledge them.

[It's the second part that gets her attention. The idea of magic without circuits is pretty novel to him.]

If you don't have circuits, what do you use?

[The witch gives a bit of a smirk.] We learn to control and craft the raw mana of the world around us. Well, at least I do being human. The youkai are magical beings, so it's a part of their existence.

To draw mana straight from the word... not bad. Not bad at all. [Archer actually sounds kinda impressed.]

Just takes a thought. [And with the flick of her wrist, there's a star bullet glowing a bright yellow. She holds it out to Archer, sustaining it even if it leaves her hand.]

It is for most. Rin got most of her magical ability from her father. The rest she's worked for.

[He shrugs, reaching out to touch the floating star.]
