No one is alone

Who: Kariya Matou, Lancer, Rin Tohsaka, residents of 1666 Nelson Street, and all of Rin's friends.
What: A party to prove to Rin that she has friends.
Where: 1666 Nelson Street.
When: Saturday afternoon.
Warnings: Possible tsunsplosion. Action tags to keep things going.

With the help of Lancer, Kariya had managed to get in touch with all of Rin's friends, acquaintances, and anyone else who views her in the slightest favorable light.  The party had been thrown together somewhat at the last minute, but since it's really just a gathering of friends, there actually wasn't that much specific planning to do.  There's plenty of food and drink - both alcoholic and non - set up in the kitchen and dining room area, and a separate table for anyone bringing presents to set them down.  Apart from that, he's just sitting there with the assembled group of Rin's friends, waiting for her to arrive.

I'm not going to make you do something during a party that is about you. Besides, gifts are gifts. It's not a trade.

I don't like gifts. [ She does, but since she's tsundere, she's supposed to hate everything she likes?? ]

I rather things be equal. Isn't it proper for someone who receives a gift to write a card to thank the person? That's still something for something else.

In some cultures, that would be appropriate. In others, you say 'thank you' to their face.

[Because, you know, all the better to make it awkward for Rin.]

[ Twitch. ]

W-Who says something in that manner to someone's face?

It is considered the best way to show thanks. Those who are known for their compassion certainly use that method.

[We all know Rin is a VERY compassionate person.]

Can't I just thank people in a sub-par manner instead?

[ Twitching. ] Well? Can't I?

Would that be appropriate of a girl of your standards?

[ He's got her cornered. ]

Fine, fine. Just as long as no one is watching...

Everyone is going to know anyway.

[ Rin uses Leer. ]

What, you don't want everyone to know what a gracious person you are?

[personal profile] gandere 2012-10-01 10:41 am (UTC)(link)
No, because then they'd start asking me for more favors and eventually I'll be overwhelmed with requests.

I wonder if that's just a worst case scenario brewing in your head.

I'm telling you that's how this town operates and I'll have no part in it.

A worst case scenario it is, then.

Quit saying it like that. It's almost as though you're trying to get me to not accept responsibility!
