Who: Zidane and Twilight!
What: Zidane tries to leave the house so he can play hero at the Portals but ends up having a nasty surprise.
Where: 1247 Williams Road
When: 7th September.
Warnings: None yet.

[Being sick to the point you are bed-ridden is no fun. It especially was not fun in the case of Zidane, who would have been one of the first people to jump into the recently-appeared Portals was he well enough.

Thankfully, whatever he had caught was not serious and by Friday, the thief was out of bed and felt that he was probably well enough to go to those Portals and help the others after all....

However, what Zidane did not know was that Twilight had conjured up a magical barrier around the house - which he immediately slammed into once he had walked a few metres away from the house.]

Ooooof! [Stumbles backwards] What the....?!

(Just as Twilight decides to peek out the first floor window, she notices Zidane trying to walk out of the home...which obviously doesn't work very well. Before anything else happens, She teleports outside and behind Zidane.)]


Are you alright? You walked into the barrier pretty quickly.

Barrier....? [He punches the air in front of him and.....yep. It's a barrier.] Did you make this, Twilight?

Yes, I did. I didn't want to take any chances with these portals, so I put one to cover the house.

[atailoftwoworlds]

Well okay, but couldn't you ask first? Some of us might need to go out for errands and stuff like that.

[magicalrealist]

You're right; I should've asked you and Crowe, but with things going on with Mayfield again, I didn't want to take any chances.

If it helps, I already went grocery shopping, so we'll be fine for the next week and a half.

'Take any chances'? Twilight, you don't need to worry about me - I can take care of myself fine. [So can you unlock that barrier for me? :)]

I know you can Zidane, but there's too many risks in going out there. There isn't much I'll be able to do there, so the best thing I can do is help my friends here.

I know, but Mayfield is too unpredictable and anything can happen while you're out there. I'm sorry Zidane, but I don't want you getting hurt.

[I can't. I've got selfless hero and "If I don't do something I'll lose my friends and be alone" issues. :(]

I know that - but that's exactly why I need to go out. There are other people who have already gone to the portals that probably need help.

(But this is Twilight being clingy since she's pretty convinced that everyone who tries going out there will get hurt or worse.)

Which is why I have to hold on to as many friends as I can. I know it's very insensitive to those who are venturing through the portals, but you have better chances of staying safe if you stay home.

Whoooah - hang on a minute! So we're just gonna leave them to die?! [See this face, Twilight? He's not impressed.]

It's very cruel and I know it is, but rushing in after them means you're just as likely to get killed. It'll be one pointless death after another.

(She's not happy about this idea either, but it's safety first.)

You can't be serious about this. C'mon Twilight, let me through!

I can't do that, Zidane; it's too dangerous and you know it.

Dammit, I'm well aware of what could happen! But you don't have to worry - I'll come back, either way. [It sounds like a pretty flippant comment - Zidane's more aware of the consequences than he is letting on. After all, he's died once. Not that he's told Twilight this. But he doesn't want to any signs of being afraid because he'll know he'll worry Twilight]

(Telling Twilight that will only make things worse.)

Of course I have to worry; you've been one of my best friends since I was brought back here. All I've been doing in between studies is worrying about how the town will try to hurt us or who else I know will be taken away next. I can't save everyone, but I want to help everyone I can the best way I can.

I'm sorry, Zidane; I know this is selfish and you're free to call me out on it, but this is all I can do that'll give me peace of mind.

But...[Deep down, Zidane can see where she is coming from. However, Mayfield had committed such terrible atrocities. They killed people - they tortured people physically and emotionally. They managed to turn Zidane himself into something he never wanted to be and made him hurt people. And they did the same to others...

Not only that, but seeing people the thief knew getting droned - seeing Platina droned, seeing Magnus droned....seeing Dagger droned...and not having been able to stop it...

No, there was no way the thief was going to give up that easily!

Zidane slowly steps a few metres back. He knew that what he was about to do probably was not going to work, but just in case...]

[Zidane starts to run towards the barrier, tries to do a jump kick, and...

WHAM!

He falls on his butt. Needless to say, it hasn't worked]

[Well, that was a waste of time. Ugh, is there really nothing he can do? Angry and upset, the thief bangs the ground with his fist] Dammit!

[magicalrealist]

(Twilight cringes as she watches Zidane try to break through the barrier. A part of her expected it, but that didn't stop her from feeling any less guilty about it. For the briefest of moments, she compared herself to Zemekis and the rest of the higher ups in town, keeping people trapped in a protective bubble against their will. He wanted out and she wouldn't grant it...

...she shakes the thought out of her head. Mayfield regularly kills and hurts people. Twilight's just trying to keep herself and her housemates from being subjected to its horrors. Doesn't keep her from feeling guilty, however.

Her ears droop as she rests a hoof on his shoulder. She's not proud of this, but this is all she can do.)

Let's...go back inside. I'll cook something for us.

[Unfortunately, whether or not he actually heard Twilight, Zidane does not respond. He does not even lift his head up.

Just..how was he going to help people while trapped in here? Zidane had promised himself that he would never leave Mayfield until the town was freed, so what good was him staying in the house? How could he help everyone?

How would he save Dagger and get her out if he stayed here?

....What if she never returned?]

(Unfortunately, Twilight interprets this as Zidane blatantly ignoring her. She can't blame him, however; she's not feeling too proud of this decision either and while she felt the decision was made with good intentions, she now felt guilty.

With ears drooped, she slowly makes her way back to the house without speaking another word. For now, it might be best to let Zidane be; he had every right to be angry with her and decided to give him some space.)

[And while Twilight walks back, she may or may not hear a voice coming from behind her. It is rather quiet]

Dagger...what can I do?

(Her ears twitch as she just barely picks up that sentence. She stays in place and her ears prop back up. Something's on his mind, but what...? Perhaps she can overhear some of it if he still doesn't acknowledge her presence...)

[Not noticing Twilight, he clenches his fist.] ...How am I gonna save you like this?

(Dagger...was she someone he knew? Sounds like she meant a lot to him. Perhaps she was droned...?

Or maybe she went through one of the portals.

...Twilight knows she would probably be the exact same way if she were in his position. Her head hangs low.)
