Picnic in the park

Who: Kariya Matou, Sakura Matou, Rin Tohsaka, and in all likelihood Lancer and Rider showing up to crash the party too.
What: An adorable family picnic.
Where: John Doe Park, lakeside.
When: August 8th.
Warnings: There is the distinct potential of both feels and mild violence. Also Rin being horrible. Action tags to keep things rolling along.

[The long-promised day has finally arrived.  Kariya's got a couple of picnic baskets all loaded up with as much picnic fare as he could manage to fix up on his own - which means it's mostly easy to make stuff like sandwiches, but it's the thought that counts, right?  Once the trio arrives in the park, he spreads out a blanket for them to sit on and starts setting out all of the various food and side dishes for everyone.  It's hard to hide that smile on his face right now - Mayfield may be terrible, but he'll always appreciate the chance the town has given him to spend time with the girls.]

All right, then, everybody dig in!

[ Rin's not really thrilled with the idea of being outside and eating food off of a blanket, but she did force Kariya's hand. So it's only fair that she does this in return. Maybe if she had come from another route, this might be more fun. ]

Shouldn't I put up a boundary field to keep insects out? [ What a waste of magic, Rin... ] Would that even work?

[ Probably not best to do that with Sakura and Kariya nearby. They sort of like bugs or something. ]

[Like bugs? Rin, if you only knew... Sakura is... not quite pouting right now, but she does look a little upset. She had wanted to help out with the food, maybe make something a little extra... but nope. No chance of that.

But she's not going to let one little thing bugging her ruin her mood! And speaking of bugs...]

I'm not sure... maybe it would only work if the insects were familiars of some kind.

[gandere]

Ugh... [ Rin's clearly unsatisfied with that answer. ] What else can I use? Fire? Fire usually works, doesn't it?

[ With that, she turns her gaze onto a nearby tree. ]

Smoke too...

[Kariya smiles apologetically at Sakura as he unloads the food.]

Sorry I just kind of sprung this on you, but this is something I wanted to do this for you girls myself. I promise next time we can do all the cooking together, okay?

[He then turns his attention to Rin, looking just a mite nervous about the 'setting trees on fire' plan.]

I'm not sure we really need to resort to something like that...

Ugh... [ It's hard to tell if she's groaning at the idea of doing work with her sister and uncle or if it's at her idea. ]

Why not? I want this to be perfect.

[returntospring]

It already is perfect, I think. We're all having fun.... right? [She is, at least. She's pretty sure Rin is too, despite her attitude.] I don't think a few bugs could ruin that.

Right. It'll be okay.

[Kariya nods at Sakura, smiling at them both as he finishes unloading the last of the food.]

It's been a while since we've all been together like this, so I just want to take our time and enjoy it.

But bugs are gross... Fine, fine, it's enjoyable alright. Just a bit warm and it's pretty early in the day...

[ Rin complaining? Who would have thought of it? Even so, she still has the inkling of a smile on her face. ]

Just the three of us, right?

[returntospring]

It's the perfect weather, isn't it? For a day so late in the summer, usually it would be unbearable even now...

[She looks around. There are a few people scattered here and there, drones and residents alike, but nobody around that seemed intent on crashing their little get-together.]

Mm, I think so. I didn't invite anyone. But I did tell Rider where I'd be going... so I wouldn't be surprised if she stopped by.

I'll take care of anything that gets too close.

[Kariya's long past being grossed out by bugs of any sort, after all.]

Well... I guess that was probably unavoidable. She is your Servant, after all. I wonder if Lancer will show up, too.

[He's kind of hoping they don't, of course, but he knows it wouldn't be easy to stop either of them if they decided to.]

[ Perfect weather? Rin supposes that's true as she shifts uncomfortably against the ground. Things like this are foreign to her even still, but no point in letting her bad mood ruin it. ]

Lancer? Probably not. [ Looking up towards the sky. ] I'd be more concerned with Archer. He has no idea who you are and might still view Sakura as an... well, he just might not know who Sakura is either.
