[They'd talked about it forever ago, but now it's time! So in his casual threads, Yosuke finds himself knocking on the door of one Edward Elric, hoping he picked a good time since they never actually set one]

[He is, actually! In a few moments he opens up the door, a notebook tucked under his arm and a pen between his teeth, looking a bit stressed.]

Unfortunately.

[He takes the pen out of his mouth, stuffing it between the pages of his notebook.]

What's up?

[A notebook? Interesting! You're such a nerd, Ed]

Did... I catch you at a bad time? I was hoping you could teach me some cooking basics.

[Yes, a notebook. Ed's a nerd. Deal with it.]

Sure, I don't mind. I need to take a break from this stuff anyway.

[He takes a more obvious glance at the notebook now as he moves inside]

What is it you're working on, anyway?

[He closes the door behind Yosuke, moving into the kitchen.]

Aaaaaaand I'm immediately no help there, so forget I said anything!

[But this kitchen looks nice! And nothing like complex sciences he'll never understand!]

Hell, I don't even know what I'm doing. This is all pretty much just guesswork.

[He laughs, throwing the notebook down on the table.]

Alright, so was there something particular you wanted to learn first?

[Hmm...]

Is there anything basic that seems really great? I wouldn't mind learning something good to impress Ruri with.

[He thinks for a moment, pulling open the refrigerator and taking a look inside to see take stock of what he has to work with.]

Chicken parm is pretty easy.

[He nods to the cabinet next to the sink]

Go grab a couple of bowls.

Alright!

[He heads to said cabinet, telling himself over and over that he's better than Chie. He can do this. He can cook better than Chie]

... uh, big ones or just regular ones?

Regular ones'll be fine. Bring two plates over, too.

Will do, teacher!

[He gathers the bowls and plates, placing them down on the counter]

I feel like an accomplished cook already.

[He pulls his head out from the fridge for a second, raising an eyebrow at the "teacher" bit. A smug, amused smile tugs at his lips and he goes back to pulling out various ingredients.

Good thing his mom's drone took out chicken this morning. She'd probably yell at him, but he didn't plan on staying here tonight anyway.]

Some standards you've got there.

[He makes his way over to the pantry, pushing himself up on his toes to bring down more stuff.]

... salt, pepper, breadcrumbs -- shit what else did she use -- oh!

[Aaand a little bit of sugar. He sets out all of the ingredients out]

All right. Sauce first. [he waves Yosuke over, handing him a tomato and a paring knife.] We've got some tomatoes to peel.

Didn't I ever tell you about Mystery Food X?

[He's all set to share the story of one of the darkest, most horrifying moments of his life when he's handed a tomato and a knife, looking almost blankly at them. EDWARD, WHAT IS THIS? HAVEN'T YOU HEARD OF MODERN CONVENIENVE?! THIS SHIT IS STONE AGE LEVEL]

Wait, we're not using pre-made sauce?

[He nods.]

You mentioned it at prom.

[And Ed is like almost done peeling this tomato what is your problem Yosuke???

He pauses, giving Yosuke a sidelong glance.]

No, we're not using pre-made sauce. [he gestures back to the tomato] So start peeling.

[princeofjunes]

[He looks down at the tomato, sighing before starting to peel very slowly and carefully. Look Ed he's never peeled before and he's not exactly keen on the idea of slicing his finger open]

I'm just saying, stuff exists for a reason. Convenience and all that!

It conveniently tastes like crap, too.

Jeez, I didn't realize you're Mister Five Star Cuisine over here...

[He's grumbling, but he's peeling. It's slow going, but he finishes peeling one after a few minutes and actually looks a little proud of himself! He knew those girls were making a big deal out of nothing. Cooking's easy!]

I'm not.

[a laughs.]

Like I said, some standards you've got there.

[Oh you're done with that one? HERE. PEEL ANOTHER ONE.]

We only need a couple more.

[He starts peeling another, going slightly quicker on this one]

You say that now, but one day you'll try instant ramen - ooh, wait, instant udon! Just one bowl and you'll be a believer.

... Instant ramen?

[Have a completely bewildered look, Yosuke. wtf are you even talking about. :|]

... oh my god you've never had instant ramen.

It's one of life's fundamental experiences!
