[He shrugs.]

So far about the same as always.

[He blinks, mildly surprised.]

Not really. This might be the most we've spoken since I got here.

[He stares at her for a moment.]

[He considers this silently for a long time, going over his usual breakfast business.

It's long enough that perhaps Clarice might think he was ignoring her again.

But after a while he finally says:]

[He considers her for a moment, then shrugs.]
