PROM, PART 1

Because he can't stop himself from making a movie reference, the theme of this year's Prom is "Enchantment Under the Sea". (Don't get too freaked out, Marty McFly.) Equipment has been moved out, seating has been set near tables and walls, and a makeshift stage has been constructed to host the DJing equipment. There's plenty of food and drinks - including spiked, and very-much-not-spiked punch (magically protected, thanks to Ilsa). In a corner is a small set up for people who wish to get their photos taken by Tsukasa.

The party is under way - have yourselves a good time, Mayfield!

[He takes a glass, then gives her a small smirk.]

You enjoying yourself, then? I've never been to one of these before, as far as I can remember, anyway.

[He will take a bit of a sip, then think.]

[She joins him with a glass herself, watching the crowd as she takes a sip.]

I haven't been to one of these either. It's not really my thing.

Are you talking about the annoying guy in the red coat who's a pirate, and who brags about it to law enforcement? We got along juuuuust fine.

[Tsukasa shrugs a little bit.]

He means well, and apparently he has the blessing of someone that I put a lot of faith in, one of his predecessors. From what I've been lead to believe, he does love this planet.

[He will take a sip of his drink.]

But in any case, at least the kids seem to be having fun. It's a good way to let off steam from some of the shit that this town puts us through, right?

If keeping an eye out on kids is your idea of fun, sure. The music's alright, but I'm on duty here.

This is the first I've heard a lot of this music. Not that big of a fan...some of it predates Ichigo, and...well, just not my bag.

[He shrugs a bit, not having been much for dancing anyway.]

So, how many have been trying to get some of the spiked stuff?

A couple of kids, and a few adults who are so drunk they can't even stand up straight. Other than that though, it's been quiet.

How are your photos going?

Gotta love public drunkenness. It's really why I don't...plus, the hangovers the next morning.

[When asked about his photos, he will give a smirk.]

Capturing the world is so much easier when it comes to you. I've gotten a couple of rolls of film so far, and I've got at least one left. Hajime, my partner, might have a few others that I can use.

[He will wave his camera at her.]

I think that they'll like my photos, in the end.

[He'll think for a moment.]

Do you have any hobbies like this, Shepard?

I don't really have much time for hobbies. I used to play a little Skillian Five every now and then, but that was a long time ago. Skillian Five is a card game.

[He pulls out one of his own cards and waves it at her, a bit of a smile on his face.]

Well, I do have a bit of experience with that sort of thing. Want to teach me sometime?

[She shakes her head and crosses her arms, watching the crowd.]

Different set of cards. It's really only fun in a group too.

Do you play any card games? Other than the ones you use to do that transformation of yours?

A couple of games like Blackjack and Two-Ten-Jack, but nothing too big, and rarely for money. I gamble enough with my life as it is.

I don't think you have much time playing card games either. Crossing worlds seems to be a busy occupation.

You'd actually be surprised. We do have some downtime, since we take our home with us. I got to spend a lot of time with Grandpa, Yuusuke, and Natsumi.

You take your home with you? I'm not so sure I follow.

Kind of. It had a bunch of murals that we used as backdrops for taking in house photos...and they got changed to the different worlds that we were traveling to next.

[He frowns.]

There's a good chance that Natsumi's Grandfather...the man I called Grandpa, was subconsciously working with my old organization. He was, apparently, a General in my armies.

[There is a shake of the head. He doesn't want to think about that.]

I'm sorry, I got off the subject. Anyway, I think that it was just used to keep the fact that I could travel from world to world consciously away from me, so that they could track my movements.
