as long as you're living, my baby you'll be
Who: River Song, The Doctor, Amy & Rory Pond
What: Mother's day cuteness
Where: 1648 Albright Ln
When: Mother's Day, 5/12
Warnings: cuTENESS
[ When you're traveling through time and space, there are very few concepts that are "foreign" to River Song. Of course she knows what Mother's Day is, but in practical application, well, that's where things begin to drift into a gray area. That must be one of the downsides to having your life be a complete timeline clusterfuck.
But she sees this as an opportunity for a "normal" Mother's Day, a chance to give it a try, and she's simultaneously very and not at all surprised to realize just how much she cares about it. She's rounded up the boys, her boys, Amy's boys-- her mother's boys, and leads the way in her typical fashion to Albright lane.
She's armed herself with the basics, or so she assumes. Flowers, passed off to Rory. A cake, pushed urgently into the Doctor's hands. For herself she has nothing but a small, neatly wrapped box, tucked away and out of sight.
When she finally reaches the doorstep, she knocks, but as soon as her hand's left the door she finds herself shuffling backwards, standing behind her husband and father, gaze flitting this way and that.
Well, here goes. ]

He presses his shoulder against hers, a silent offer of support.]

He's just still wondering what's about to explode or suddenly break out and try to eat them is all.
WELL STILL. He'll offer River and the Doctor the best in short hopeful grins and a thumbs up, because this is obviously a thumbs up situation. Family bonding. They've got this. ]

What's the occasion? [ Who cares about dates when it's the 1950's?? ] No really, who put you up to this? Abel, no, this doesn't seem like something he'd do.
[ Seriously though, what is the deal? Without waiting for an answer, she'll at least go to hold open the door, ushering them in with the other hand. ]

We just thought we'd pop by for a nice sitdown.
[ Which is... true, but avoiding the point. She just hopes that one of them will fill in the blanks properly. ]

She made us come over. Not even insisted. Demanded.
And told me to bake a cake. And now here we are.
[He pouts slightly.]

[ What is in it and will it end up killing them? ]
I'll get a trashcan just in case.

[ She does, however, shoot the Doctor a look at the 'made us' comment. Thank you for that. ]
Let's all get comfortable then.
[ And to maintain her position at the rear, she puts a hand on Rory's and the Doctor's back, nudging them forward. ]

Blimey. The things I put up with.
[A huff as River shoves him in. He pauses to give Amy a proper kiss on the cheek before stomping into the house.]

Into the house Rory stumbles like the graceful bastard he truly is, going ahead and reaching over to squeeze Amy's hand with his free one when he's straightened up. Yes, a lovely get-together this is going to be indeed. He holds the flowers up properly. ] Got a vase?

But yay hand squeezing. It's nice to see her stupid Rory. Just as nice as it is to see the other two as well. She'll look past the boys at River briefly, before pulling away. ]
A vase, right. I'll go look for one.
[ She won't travel very far, choosing to start with a closet nearby, prodding through various pieces of junk her housemates have chosen to store. ]
