as long as you're living, my baby you'll be

Who: River Song, The Doctor, Amy & Rory Pond
What: Mother's day cuteness
Where: 1648 Albright Ln
When: Mother's Day, 5/12
Warnings: cuTENESS

[ When you're traveling through time and space, there are very few concepts that are "foreign" to River Song. Of course she knows what Mother's Day is, but in practical application, well, that's where things begin to drift into a gray area. That must be one of the downsides to having your life be a complete timeline clusterfuck.

But she sees this as an opportunity for a "normal" Mother's Day, a chance to give it a try, and she's simultaneously very and not at all surprised to realize just how much she cares about it. She's rounded up the boys, her boys, Amy's boys-- her mother's boys, and leads the way in her typical fashion to Albright lane.

She's armed herself with the basics, or so she assumes. Flowers, passed off to Rory. A cake, pushed urgently into the Doctor's hands. For herself she has nothing but a small, neatly wrapped box, tucked away and out of sight.

When she finally reaches the doorstep, she knocks, but as soon as her hand's left the door she finds herself shuffling backwards, standing behind her husband and father, gaze flitting this way and that.

Well, here goes. ]

[The Doctor grips the cake tightly, very determined not to drop it. But considering his sinuses, it's better that he has the cake than the flowers. He knows River is nervous. He supposes this sort of thing is important to her. Things that are normal and that average families do.

He presses his shoulder against hers, a silent offer of support.]

[ Rory stands in position and holds onto the flowers not quite unlike a talisman to ward off harm with. There isn't anything to be particularly worried about in the grand scheme, he supposes, and this is all definitely a nice gesture. Definitely. Very good gesturing.

He's just still wondering what's about to explode or suddenly break out and try to eat them is all.

WELL STILL. He'll offer River and the Doctor the best in short hopeful grins and a thumbs up, because this is obviously a thumbs up situation. Family bonding. They've got this. ]

[ When Amy opens the door, the sight before her leaves her startled; her three most special people throughout time and space were here for a visit. It's surreal, but not enough to phase her for too long. ]

What's the occasion? [ Who cares about dates when it's the 1950's?? ] No really, who put you up to this? Abel, no, this doesn't seem like something he'd do.

[ Seriously though, what is the deal? Without waiting for an answer, she'll at least go to hold open the door, ushering them in with the other hand. ]

No.

She made us come over. Not even insisted. Demanded.

And told me to bake a cake. And now here we are.

[He pouts slightly.]

Well, maybe not demanded, it was sort of more... informing us we had plans before we made other plans. To come and have a nice sitdown. "Or else." [ Gesturing to the group in general with his flowers-hand. He would have wound up here eventually today anyway, but this way he comes bearing a gift, which. Had not occurred to him to do. Win-win. ]

Sitdowns are usually nice. [ At least with Rory; the other two are sort of debatable at this point. ] You baked the cake?

[ What is in it and will it end up killing them? ]

I'll get a trashcan just in case.

Yes. Exactly. I've cooked for you loads of times before and I've never heard any complaints.

Blimey. The things I put up with.

[A huff as River shoves him in. He pauses to give Amy a proper kiss on the cheek before stomping into the house.]
soveryhuman: (no seriously you have to be)

Yes, never heard them. [ But he digresses.

Into the house Rory stumbles like the graceful bastard he truly is, going ahead and reaching over to squeeze Amy's hand with his free one when he's straightened up. Yes, a lovely get-together this is going to be indeed. He holds the flowers up properly. ]
Got a vase?

[personal profile] the_girl_who_waited 2012-05-16 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
Somewhere around here. [ Amy spends most of her time away from the tackly floral wallpapered house. The very thought of searching it for something to place flowers in is daunting, but there's a couple of places in her mind she can check.

But yay hand squeezing. It's nice to see her stupid Rory. Just as nice as it is to see the other two as well. She'll look past the boys at River briefly, before pulling away. ]

A vase, right. I'll go look for one.

[ She won't travel very far, choosing to start with a closet nearby, prodding through various pieces of junk her housemates have chosen to store. ]
