[Answer: The start of an incredibly silly prank. Edward winces (whether unintentionally or for effect), and glances down at the boy.]

Something the matter?

[Lucas rubs at his ears a little.]

Huh? N-No, I guess I was pushing too hard...

[Weird. Lucas continues to swipe at the blackboard while ignoring the -- wait what where were those lines coming from???]

[Oh, this is just too easy. Edward makes a show of packing up his briefcase before turning to Lucas once more. You don't look like you're making much progress.]

[Lucas is making an incredible amount of progress; what are you talking about? He has started to sweat a little as he goes back to erase the mysterious lines and yet more lines keep appearing.

........After maybe a few minutes of this, he will finally stare at the eraser and frown in irritation. It is the natural response of most people when things go wrong to blame the tool they are using, but in Lucas's case, he is all too eager to accept blame for things. Still, he stares, and...]

Oh! Look, a piece of chalk must have gotten stuck inside. I'm sorry about that, Mr. Nigma.

[Lucas removes the offending chalk and merrily cleans the blackboard for real this time.]

[No response, Lucas. By this point, Mr. Nigma's already slipped quietly out the door, looking and feeling quite refreshed.

All that remains is a small green card. Should Lucas decide to open it up, he'll read the following words:

"THE JOKE'S ON YOU."]

[When Lucas is done, he puts the eraser down and spots the card out of the corner of his eye.
.......He doesn't get it at all. Oh, well. It's still a successful prank if the target never realizes it was purposeful, right?]
