Yesterday's just a memory, tomorrow is never what it's supposed to be. [CLOSED]
Who: The Witch Marisa Kirisame and The Tsundere Rin Tosaka
When: 3/11 - sunset
Where: The Highway
What: High level magic goes wrong because Mayfield sucks. (mod-approved consequences)
Warnings: magic ritual, explosions, foul language, possible blood and/or sexual innuendo
The highway probably seemed at first like an odd place to work high level magic, but Marisa had chosen it for two reasons. The first was that it was away from the town, creating a reasonable distance between the site of the spell and all the other magic users and influences in Mayfield proper. The second reason was that it wasn't Makeout Point. That would have been the witch's first choice of location, but she knew enough people ventured up there that the solitude and privacy needed for this spell wouldn't be achieved.
So, down one of the bends that took Mayfield proper from view, Marisa continued her preparations as she awaited Rin's arrival. No cars came down the highway - she'd staked it out for a few days to confirm - so Marisa set up the spell in the middle of the road. She first cleaned the section of the road with fire, conjuring a small conflagration to scorch the surface before removing the soot left behind, before setting her pack down to get her materials ready.
A large stick of dried sage was lit, allowing the witch to clear the air and drive whatever weak spirits might be lingering about away. The scent was comforting and helped Marisa focus her mind. Once she'd walked the entire area the spell would take place, she set the still burning bundle down near the center of the circular area she's scorched. With that done, she took out a stoppered flask containing a silvery liquid. Opening the flask, she poured the quicksilver into a hand and then used it to draw a reflective line about the scorched ground, creating a silvery circle. She didn't close it, leaving a space open facing the direction Rin would approach from, and stoppered the flask once again after using magic to clean most of the mercury from her hand.
Next came two vials of powder - one yellow and one grey - and she moved to each cardinal point in the ritual space. It had been a while since she'd worked with such high level magic that wasn't directly linked with blowing things up, so she was set on making sure the preparations would be thorough and she would be careful to not mess any of it up. So she murmured incantations as she sprinkled the powder from both vials over each cardinal point, magically setting seals into the ground.
To the North, the direction facing Mayfield proper, she placed the Sixth Pentacle of the Sun.
To the South, she placed the Second Pentacle of Mercury.
To the East, she placed the Third Pentacle of Saturn.
To the West, she placed the Fourth Pentacle of Mercury.
They briefly glowed a muted blueish-white before burning themselves into the road's surface and going dark. Somewhat visible as black in the fading light, the four seals went dormant, waiting for the time when the witch would call them. With that done, she had one thing left to do before she would be ready. Moving to the very center of the space, she knelt down and placed her hand to the ground. Eyes closed, she murmured more words of magic and set one last seal into the ground with neither powder being used - just her raw magic. With a flash of that same blueish-white light, the Seventh Pentacle of the Sun flared into life and then died down just as the others had with dormant magic, waiting for the time when it'd been released.
With a sigh and a wipe of the sweat on her brow, the witch wafted the smoke from the burning sage over her, clearing herself of the residual magic. Leaving it burning, Marisa stood and walked to the north before the open end of her circle and waited for Rin. The sun was setting...
