This place looks comfortable!

[Emmett nods and follows behind her. He quickly scans the room. No customers, that was good. This made taking the secret entrance behind the cooler in the Florist Shop much easier. Hiding his science wasn't something new to Emmett. The scientist had to hide in the family garage at odd hours of the night back in Hill Valley from his own family.]

[Was her stomach rumbling?]

(Just a little bit; the flowers were looking really tasty! She's just going to shyly cover it up with a smile.)

I...guess I haven't eaten anything yet today. Things just slip my mind like that!

[Emmett rolls his head to the side] I know what you mean, I can just get so distracted.

There's food in the base if you're hungry it's not a problem.

Anything vegetarian, perhaps?

(Part of the pony way: flower sandwiches over chicken wings.)

[Emmett opens the secret passage for Twilight]

[He was so focused on rambling off food for her his scatter brain mind forgot to tell her to watch that first step]

Would you like a salad? I could that up for you.

That would be great. If it's no trouble, of course.

(Thankfully, she sees that first step and doesn't trip over it. She has grace sometimes! Well, enough grace to take a gander at the lab while walking down stairs without falling.)

This is really impressive, Emmett. It must've taken a lot of work to put all of this together.

Not at all. There's a room next door to the lab where we can do that.

[Emmett follows her down the stairs as closes the door behind them]

I can't take all of the credit, my mother - I mean Olivier, was the one who oringally had this bunker build. She's gathering a resistance team against this town and since I'm her - someone she was left to guard she lent me and my suppose sister a space that was extra. Though, my supposed sister and myself did organize out the space here.

[Which is probably why you could probably tell where Fran usually worked and where Emmett did. Fran's side was much more organized. There was a chalkboard, with some lines drawn on it and mice. Lots of mice in a cage.]

A resistance team...sounds interesting! This looks like plenty of space for experimenting and research.

Sometimes my home gets a little messy like this, but I really don't mind sorting it together. I even have my assistant, Spike, to help me! My non-Mayfield home, I mean.

(Just walking around, getting a close look at the mice and notes on the chalkboard. She kinda gets curious like that, but can you blame her? Secret labs are awesome!)

Not as much square feet as the garage back home but it'll suffice.

I don't mind the mess.

[Oh, and there's a fish tank with bacteria not just potatos in there. As well as H.G. Wells The Time Machine and your basics]

What is your non Mayfield home like? Besides having creatures like you as the dominant species?

[Twilight better remind Emmett that she's hungry or she may never get food]

(What was that? She's too busy observing things and thinking about home to remember that. It's okay; her stomach will remind her soon enough.)

Well, it's much more peaceful, but so is any other place. There's earth ponies, unicorns and pegasi that are the dominant ones, but there's also dragons, griffins, cockatrice and lots of other creatures! Both magic and science are prevalent there and it's under the care of Princess Celestia. I'm her most faithful student.

(She loves bragging about that.)

So, your world still is run with a monarchy over a democratic run society. [Could be worse she could be a communist. Emmett's mind for a moment couldn't help but think about the Great War happening back home. What was happening with that? And in a universe where science and magic where existing together and one not denounced over the other. Brown eyes over at H.G Wells The Time Machine inbetween those pages where some blueprints he had been working on for a rocket power car. Suppose science and magic being on the same playing wasn't too far out of the box. Considering science fiction and how that simulates the imagination]

Mhmm. It's been that way for at over a millennium. Princess Celestia is a kind and wonderful ruler who helped make Equestria the great place it is today. She and her sister, Luna, even go as far as visiting their subjects to really get an idea of how they're doing. There's something to be said about that level of dedication.

(Thinking about the princess gets her excited. Might want to fix that before she starts jumping off the walls.)

You very apparently idolize her. [Emmett giggles slighty. This reminded of himself when he could on and on about Einstein, Copernicus or Edison]

That I do. She is my teacher and taught me to control my magic; I owe a lot to her. She inspired me to study magic and personally took me under her wing!

(Bouncing a little right no-oh wait, he said not to do that, didn't he? She's going to stop that now.)

[Emmett walks to the door nearest to them and opens that and holds the door open for Miss Twilight]

I know Mayfield wants everypony to live here, but I still find it so creepy that they treat us all like pets...

[Follows behind Twilight. Quickly washes his hands and proceeds to pull out the vegetables from their designated resting places and on top the counter where he starts chopping them ontop a plate with a knife]

The drones are a bit creepy as well... How they lack any emotion besides happiness. [Pause] But every town has it's small problems, none of them are perfect.

[Another pause] Not that I'm overly fond of the scientists using the town members as lab rats....

I wouldn't really call Mayfield's regular stuff small, but the drones really are creepy. I'm beginning to wonder if drones are just the people that have given up fighting the town...

...I don't like that thought either, but there are people that have lasted here a really long time. It's possible to survive despite everything this place does.

[As Emmett continues to dice he pauses to look at Twilight]

Well your hypothesis isn't far off from what Olivier had me read in the introduction letter for this place.

A letter? I got introduced to Mayfield through the people who were in my house before me...

...so what was it you read from it? It must've been really helpful if explained to you if it had hypotheses and facts about Mayfield.

My strangley afflicated mother has been gathering information for six months, and put together a letter she gives to new residents of her household.

That drones are empty shells of once be residents of another worlds.... There's a punishment act apparently that acting out can cause in the temporarial process of droning from this conclusion one can only hypothesize that after a certain percentage of times having been droned one stays droned.... Though the evidence for that could only be proven by asking a drone but since their memories are so scrambled they probably have no recollection of their former lives.... [Pause goes back to dicing] There was also another paragraph about super natural powers having been vaporized once having entered here.

(Twilight nods in understanding.)

That sounds very accurate...and logical. I bet we could learn a lot about Mayfield's secrets if the drones were able to answer those questions. They can't do much more than treat me like I'm a cat.

(She is not a cat and does NOT want to be treated as such.)

[Emmett tosses the salad and places the on a plate in front of Twilight and nods]

I'm sure there's still a way to attain answers...

[Eyes Miss Sparkle. As Emmett's face gives a look as if he's thinking about the intellectual of the drones.]

Either all that droning has also destoryed part of their mental capacity or they'll suffering from some kind of delusional mental illness.

I'm thinking they know a lot more than they let on, but play dumb to avoid getting in trouble. This town constantly tries to get everyone to submit to their rules, but then again, this place can tamper with minds and memories...it's hard to say for sure.

Just the basics, really; I've mostly been thinking about Mayfield's mysteries on my own. Libraries are really the best place for me to think, but we both know how useless this one is. If I had my books back, I'd probably be able to figure out a lot more...

Hmm...I haven't read that one before...

...but if the town can send back our things, then I'd love to have my horn and my books back!

No? It's incredibly fascinating. [Letting go of the book with one hand due to exictment some paper drops out of the book]

The town can send things back.. However, the trade off can be rather harsh.

With a title like "The Time Machine," it has to be fascinating. It makes you wonder if somepony could ever invent one someday... (Hint hint.)

I imagine so. It'd be too easy to just get my magic back at no cost. Things are never that easy.

[Emmett's eyes sparkle]

To see hypothetically where mankind may be going, seeing the process of mankind. [Emmett is eyeing just beyond Twilight as he speaks, like he's looking into the future]

[Emmett nods] I like to think life is like physics, equilibrium.

(Is he...staring off at the other side of the room? Twilight has seen this before...

...oh, she's done that before. Many many times.)

Much better, definitely. There's so much that could be done, could be learned! But with that equilibrium, that means there's responsibility that could come with a time machine.

[Emmett is now deep in thought for a bit] I haven't thought of that. [Looking back at the book. Great book but that time traveler doesn't seem to even mention that or the author for that matter]

Tell me more about magic in your world and how that balances with science.

(She'll gladly do that.)

Both of them are practiced regularly and equally. Magic is exclusive to unicorns, but everypony can practice science if they want to. They're both accepted as everyday parts of life in Equestria.

Because of my dedication to studies, I've dedicated myself to mastering both. I was making excellent progress back home, but since meeting others in Mayfield, I've realized there are many other types of magic out there and I want to learn them all!

Fascinating. A world where magic and science coincide to the accepted parts of life.

.... Are they able to be combined?

Yup! And both are capable of great things!

I can't imagine why not. If such a feat was accomplished, the combination would be capable of much more than what's available right now! It could be the next greatest thing that could change the world!

I wonder if that's the functionality of this plane of existance.... [Though it was kinda tearing Emmett up that magic would be any 'logical' cause but then he couldn't explain how a pony was speaking to him elsewise besides delusional and he had made sure earlier that he was in fact awake]

Now that you mention it...that's a very probable theory. And it would explain why so many people aren't familiar with how they manage what they can manage.

Might also explain, when mother told me Lucy Smith can bend the physical reality of this place.... Either that or she processes a machine powerful enough to bend time and space at will in Einstein’s equation E= MC2.

[Small crazy laugh and here I was about to buy into that magic business] ... [stares at Twilight. Again she makes a valid point about magic being real]

Great scott. We need a way to test this theory.

If one machine can be capable of preventing anypony from dying, then I don't doubt the possibility of another machine being able to completely reshape time and space. After all, Mayfield can rebuild damaged and destroyed buildings in a day.

We need to, but what exactly would that entail? Provoke Lucy Smith into triggering that?

[Emmett gives her a look. Course not that would be idiotic] If we could a device to pick up on the wave motions, that disturbances the normal frequency we could find out at least where that machine is located if such a machine exists.

That sounds like a great idea! We should get started on it!

I'll have to get some materials first and draw up a blueprint.... I wouldn't mind assistance just - [besides her mind what else could Twilight help with? She has no hands]

(She's oblivious to those thoughts, so Twilight's just standing there.)
