Who: Death and Maladict
What: Valentines day shenanigans

Maladict should have paid more attention to the flowers, of course, she'd seen the people of Mayfield acting a bit...strange around them, but she'd assumed she was safe. Which was a really stupid assumption to make in a place such as this.

So, wandering around the town, taking in the sights, she thinks nothing of picking a Carnation, twirling it thoughtfully between her fingertips. Nope, nothing weird going on here.

Death is just walking around the corner. And oh, flower....he's passed a carnation a while ago as well.

AH, HELLO MALADICT.

He seems glad to see her. Well she is one of his, from the Disc after all. Susan can't be the only one looking out for people.

Maladict turns, giving him a warm smile, completely free of the snarky undertones her smiles usually carry. She has a brief moment where she wonders what's brought it on, but no. It's obvious, Death is here, and he makes everything feel better.

"There you are, I wondered where you'd wandered off to."

For a moment he's a little confused, but no. This is normal.

I WAS JUST CHECKING UP ON A FEW THINGS.

ARE YOU GETTING USED TO THE TOWN YET?

AS WELL YOU CAN I MEAN.

It's absolutely normal. Maladict nods.

"I'm getting there, slowly. Well, as used to the town as you can, anyway. It's easier knowing you're around," she paused. "Safer, you know?"

I'M GLAD TO BE A SERVICE.

I'VE BEEN HERE FOR A WHILE. WOULD YOU LIKE ME TO SHOW YOU AROUND THE TOWN?

She might be giving you a little hug right now. Because there's nothing more normal than giving a seven foot tall skeleton a hug.

"Yes please, I know you'll give me the best tour possible."

Totally normal and not at all strange.

I WILL DO MY BEST. HAVE YOU BEEN ASSIGNED A JOB HERE YET?

"I can get a job?" this actually gave her some hope. "I'm not just tied to the house forever? Because I am really not good at that."

I BELIEVE THEY ASSIGN MOST PEOPLE JOBS HERE.

"What sort of jobs could I get? Anything has to be better than being trapped in the house."

Ah. Haha.

MY GRANDDAUGHTER AND I ARE BOTH TEACHERS HERE. AND PEOPLE WORK IN MOST STORES HERE AS WELL.

So much irony here now.

"I don't think I'd be much of a teacher, but I could live with working in a store. Benson does it and he doesn't seem all that mentally disturbed by it."

BENSON?

He's a friend of mine. Got a chip on his shoulder, but he's okay.

A HOUSEMATE OR SOMEONE ELSE?

Someone else, he's living on his own, as far as I know.

HAVE YOU MET MANY PEOPLE HERE?

A good few, Benson is just the one I've got along with the most.

WHAT IS HE LIKE?

A little angry, a lot cynical. But he's a decent bloke, underneath it all.

I'M GLAD TO HEAR THAT.

[Now then.]

OVER HERE IS THE MAIN AREA OF THE TOWN. THERE ARE STORES, A PARK, BUSINESSES, AND THE SCHOOL.

[She arches a brow]

They have a school here?

TWO ACTUALLY.

What can they even teach them in this place?

A LOT OF THE TEACHERS ARE NOT DRONES. SO IT VARIES.

I SOMETIMES TEACH THE HISTORY OF THE DISCWORLD.

How well does that go down?

THEIR REACTIONS ARE ALWAYS INTERESTING.

Not a lot of people here seem all that willing to believe our world even exists.

PERHAPS WE SHOULD REFUSE TO BELIEVE THEIR WORLD EXISTS.

Now that might prove to be entertaining.

I'LL HAVE TO REMEMBER TO TRY IT THE NEXT TIME SOMEONE TELLS ME OUR WORLDS ARE IMPOSSIBLE.
