[So, Sora had met Luke thanks to the giant manatee named Loosha. And going out on and outing with Luke seemed like a fun idea. Sora didn't have many friends in this town just quite yet, so it was good to make them. But, Sora has had some strange inklings that something deeper is bugging Luke. He's not quite sure, he's usually pretty dense when it comes to facades and stuff but not when it really matters.

So sitting by the pond, Sora is sitting by with with Luke skipping rocks.]

So, Luke, how long have you been here for?

[Luke takes a rock in his hand, glancing out at the lake. Sora's question wasn't unexpected, but it was a difficult one to answer.]

I first arrived here about two years and a half years ago, in November. After about a year, I was droned, and then came back a few months later with no memories of my previous stay and in a new family. A few months ago, all my memories of my previous stay came back to me.

Huh, I see...I guess this place is kind of weird like that.

[Sora skips another rock in his hand.]

How has it been here? I've heard it's been pretty bad.

"Pretty bad" is one way of putting it.

[Luke tries skipping a rock, frowning as it skips once before sinking. Drat.]

Sometimes it's quiet here, almost like a normal town. Times where you can spend time with the people you've met here, like a real family, but the town...

[His fist clenches.]

The town always finds a way to take that away.

[Sora listens, and when he hears Luke say stuff about the town taking people you love away, Sora frowns a little bit.]

Oh...I guess that can be rough...

[He leans back while he sits and looks out at the water.]

But you know, the town can't take them away. Not really.

[Luke picks up another rock, looking down at the water.]

What do you mean?

[Sora looks over at Luke and pokes him in the chest.]

They're all right here. You may not see them, but they're always with you. Our hearts are connected to the ones we care about. So we have to believe that one day our hearts will lead us back to them. They're never gone for good, you know?

[He'll give Luke a bit of a dorky grin.]

[Luke smiles a little. Hearts are connected...]

So we never really lose them, huh.

Nope, never. You just gotta follow your heart to wherever it takes you, and trust that the connections between the people you care for will lead you back to them again.

[Luke's face falters a bit.]

It's a nice thought, but...I'm pretty sure I won't be able to see him again.

[heartisabattleground]

What are you talking about? Of course you will.

[Sora leans back as he looks out at the water.]

Because, at one time, a really important friend of mine got lost too. But, because of our hearts and our friendship, it led us back together again. It's the same with all the people you meet, Luke. So, don't give up hope yet, okay?

[Luke nods.]

No. No you're right. You're absolutely right.

[Has Sora brought a little bit of light back into Luke's heart?]

See. No matter what Mayfield does, our hearts are stronger then whatever they do.

[He's just going to ruffle Luke's hair a bit.]

Yeah, I suppose there's always a chance I could see him again. I'm his apprentice, after all.

[He laughs a little at the hair ruffle.]
