[Hiling has been up for a while, but she just now decides to make her way downstairs.  She isn't aware of the holiday and so doesn't suspect anything unusual.  She goes to the kitchen and stands there with the refrigerator door open as she decides what she wants to drink.]

[As much as she would like to spend all day with her family that she loves so much, Hiling goes out to find her friends.  She decides to stop by the diner.  Perhaps she will find them there.  She goes up to the counter and has a seat as she looks around.]

[Not strangely at all, Father's Day is the best day to get an endless supply of free milkshakes, sodas, and waffle fries. It is the only perk of the day he's ever abused in the past and this time around is no different. It's all a matter of waiting for the right waitresses to be behind the counter!

And it's all going so well, too, until Hiling walks in. It takes a few seconds for that to register, but once it does, Caesar immediately turns on his seat to put his back to her and crouches over the book he's brought along to occupy his time.

Maybe she won't notice him! Come on, Mayfield! Don't ruin this.]

[But of course, it's not long before Hiling sees him and just has to go sit by him. He can't hide from her. She smiles as she leans over the table, trying to get his attention.]

Hey Caesar!

[commentboxtroll]

[Figures... Caesar sighs and closes his book, turning back to look at her.]

Hello, Hiling.

How are you?

[Once again, she is behaving herself. Could it be she's really changed?]

[He doubts it! He's been through Father's Day before. He's probably safe. Probably.]

I was enjoying the day. Was there something you needed?

Just looking for some company.

[It's good that he's enjoying the day. Now they can enjoy it together.]

Must be pretty boring elsewhere if you're looking to me for company.

[Only if she stays on her side of the table.]

Any company will do, but yours is especially welcome.

[She really wants to sit next to him, but she'll stay.]

Uh... Didn't you slap me and storm off before?

[Ignoring the bizarre evil phase he went through, okay, okay.]

[Tieria had been downstairs early. He was in the living room and heard Hiling make her way into the kitchen. The latest series of events had been very frustrating for him, and he was attempting to avoid her for now. Nose buried in his latest history book, he refused to look up and acknowledge that she had come down.]

Sorry about that... I thought maybe I was being oversensitive and decided to give you another chance.

[But she hears him, so she goes over to greet him. She's unusually happy to see him.]

Good morning, Tieria.

Mm. [He merely grunted in response, paying no attention to her cheery attitude.]

What are you reading? [This time, she's not asking for the sole purpose of mocking him. She's genuinely interested and looks over his shoulder to see.]

[Uncomfortable much? He shifts to move away from her.]

I am reading a history book. Hardly something you would enjoy.

You like your history books, don't you.

[She doesn't understand why he's moving away. She just wants to be near him.]

[Still not sure if this is a trap or not... No, it must be because of the day. He sighs and idly shoves the basket of fries he has on the table over towards her. Sure, he could just order her to get lost, but then he'd actually be ordering one of the girls around. Since there's a huge difference between the waitresses deciding to give him food free of charge on their own and telling them to do stuff!]

Oversensitive and pushy, if I recall correctly.

[She frowns. But then she looks over and sees the fries and brightens up as she takes one.]

Yes. They are often times informative, in the information presented, the way it is presented, and the information left out. Sometimes, history books have more influence on opinions than they are supposed to.

[He finally glanced over at her.]

Why are you so interested?

[This was odd behavior.]

No, I just wasn't going to eat them all myself anyhow. [He's been filling up on shakes!] And yes, you were. So either stop bossing people around or find someone who actually likes that kind of thing.

I never really thought about it that way. If it's something you're interested in, then it must be something worth looking into.

[She goes to sit next to him, though this time she's considerate enough to give him some space.]

I really don't even realize I'm doing it. I guess I just have a strong personality. [She's not sure how to change it, but she'll try since he wants her to.]

Oh, and about that favor. I wasn't able to do that after all...

[Or an annoying one!]

Yeah, I guess you do. Just try to do better... [It's not like he can help her with that. He's a strategist, not a therapist. The mention of that favor, though, gets an uncomfortable look.] Oh, that mess. Don't worry about it. It's better than you didn't.

[That got him to pause. He looked at her with no small amount of distrust.]

What are you doing?

I guess you're right. He just would have come back to cause more problems. There must be another way of dealing with him.
