[The basement was one of Nox's two stops in a routine as mechanical as his field of study. A trip to the garage and immediate return to the lab, to throw himself back into his work and become absorbed entirely in the pursuit of escape. The only thing that mattered. The only deviation had been made when a... shift had been felt, motivating him to take his face off the table and turn himself around in his chair. 

He's been staring with a rather plaintive look for the past half hour.]

[She makes her way to the basement, her cleaning robot in tow. She looks around the lab and tsks at the mess. She's got on one of the dresses the town provided in her wardrobe and her hair is pinned back from her face, but falls down her back in soft curls. She spots Nox and waves a hand in front of his face.]

You never know when you're going to have company, so you should keep this place clean.

[insanefrenchman]

[Nox almost jumps at being addressed] Ah, you're right, how inconsiderate of me. [After a glance back at the table, he stands up and grabs a tarp to drap over the whole thing] It's all becoming a blur anyway. I can hardly understand half of it right now.

[queen_of_swords]

Maybe some coffee will help. I'll have the robot go fetch it.

[She sends off the robot, then lifts the tarp and inspects the jumble.]

What are you making, anyway?

[insanefrenchman]

It's really more of an exercise, a little investigation on if there's anything I can make to leave this place.

Though I wonder what's the rush. They're all gone, the only reason I'm not with them is because I'm here. Perhaps that's reason enough.

Even if things at home aren't looking good, it's far better than being here. Have you had any good results yet?

[insanefrenchman]

[Wistfully] I guess seeing them again would be rather nice, on or off the mortal coil.

Absolutely none at all.

[queen_of_swords]

[She nods.]

Well, let me know if you have any progress. Maybe you can work with some of the other scientists around town to bounce ideas around.

Oh, care to point out some exemplary individuals that you're familiar with?

[Emmett in the meanwhile woke up and wondered where he was and looking for Edna and for some reason this place looks vaguley familair...

He finds himself in the basement, the door was open as he was walking by and heard voices. Walking down the stairs. He sees the two and almost falls down the stairs]

It can't be. That's impractical.

[insanefrenchman]

[Nox smiles slightly as he turns his head up] Ah, you're up. And I'm afraid you'll have to get more specific on impracticality in this place.

There is a younger woman named Diana, and then there are the Elric brothers. They're quite young, but brilliant at times.

[There's a great amount of gasping, to the point you wonder if the guy is stroking out but he's not, as he also stumbles and manages to regain his balance on a table.]

This all most be some lucid dream. I can't be young again and I can't be where I think I am.

[As Emmett stares at Olivier as if he's seen her before some time long ago]

[Nox's eyes scrunch a bit in reaction. Hadn't they gotten over that initial confusion already?]] And I was surprised at being alive at all. And, from all of the evidence I've seen, [He waves his hand over his work table] Trying to apply a scientific perspective to this place will drive you in circles.

I'll keep those names in mind. It's about time for me to start thinking outside of myself. Wouldn't you say you've gained something from the people you've met here?

[She nods.]

Not all of them, but definitely a fair amount. But, I think that is normal for hostage situations similar to this.

[insanefrenchman]

[He smiles for no real reason. It just seems amusing] You have experience with those?

[queen_of_swords]

Being from a very well to do family, we've been taught a few things about being held hostage or kidnapped. I suppose most would say we've been given advice on some what to and not to do in case it ever happens Although, I don't think the authorities here are trying to gain ransom from this, so it's a bit of an entirely different situation all together.
