Well, anyone waking up to someone pinning them down with a knife was going to think the worst, so he'd have to be pardoned for that reaction. Either way, he was going to fight her. Getting stabbed or slashed, lethal or not, wasn't something he was really looking forward to having done, and certainly not something he was just going to sit back and let happen. Now that they were at a different angle, he was just going to bring his leg around and push his foot against her stomach to get her away.
