[Most people might not realize it, but Black Star is more than just an idiot bent on becoming stronger and surpassing God. He's that, without a doubt, but there's more to it. He's a goofball, but he's observant. He's loud and obnoxious, but he's a good friend. And when this observant good friend notices one of his in a funk for an obvious reason - the loss of his partner, of Black Star's longtime friend, the biggest star the world's ever known can't just sit idly by.

And so, after school, he's in a makeshift tanktop in front of Soul's house, both knocking at the front door and shouting loudly for his friend]

SOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUL! HEY, SOUL! GET OUT HERE!

[OH WOW WHO COULD POSSIBLY BE AT THE DOOR? HE HAD NO IDEA WHO THIS PERSON COULD BE! IF ONLY THEY HAD SPOKEN A LITTLE LOUDER HE MIGHT HAVE RECOGNIZED THEM.

Soul should have expected this. Well, part of him did expect it, was waiting for this to happen. He knew Black☆Star would notice. This wasn't something that would escape his notice.

Black☆Star would only start screaming louder if he tried to ignore him so it doesn't take very long for him to (reluctantly) open the door.]

Could you yell any louder, dude? What d'you want?

[Black☆Star takes a moment to assess Soul's state of dress, looking him up and down and finding it lacking. It was fine for school, but for basketball? He'd need to wear something looser]

Go get changed - we're gonna go play ball.

[He yawns, rubbing the back of his neck and stepping aside to let Black☆Star in the house. Basketball, huh? ... That might not be so bad.]

Are Kid and Tsubaki coming? [He stops just short of asking if he managed to convince Maka to come, too.]

[Stepping inside, Black☆Star takes a quick glance around, but keeps his curiosity in check. He's not here to explore Soul's temporary Mayfield house, he's here on a mission. Everything - even making himself as a big a star as possible - can wait until after the mission's done]

Nah. Tsubaki's busy and I couldn't find Kid, so it's just one on one today.

He probably stayed late at school for something.

[He closes the door behind them before heading up the stairs]

Lemme go get changed.

Just hurry it up!

[And until Soul returns, Black☆Star bounces anxiously from one foot to the other. Waiting sucks]

In a few minutes Soul comes trotting back downstairs, appropriately dressed with a basketball tucked under his arm.]

Let's get going, dude.

Finally! And here I thought you got scared and ran away.

[Black☆Star sure has a strange way of showing affection, huh. And they're off, to the basketball court! And it's while they're on the way that he finally becomes a little more serious]

[He's quiet for a moment, but sorry Soul, he's not about to just let it drop]

Do you remember any of it? What happened when you left?

Not at all, dude.

Then when she gets back, she won't remember it either. That's good.
