[Nezumi had grabbed Shion when they had realized that things were going downhill and dragged him over to the cliff. ...Or something like that. In any case, they were now leaving the pavement and heading towards the relatively natural area, and while Nezumi did not relax yet, he certainly felt more at ease here. The area was less controlled - he was fully aware that it was probably still supervised or at least under some form of control by the town, but it still seemed easier to retreat here. And it also had less people, and hopefully none of the ones that were suddenly all acting up.

He threw a quick look back at Shion to make sure that the other boy was still following.]

[Of course he's still following. Who do you think you're traveling with?

Well, despite thinking that he's 12 right now....]

Have you ever been here before, Nezumi? This still doesn't look like any place that I've ever seen.

[singsthesong]

No.

[He looks back at the hill, studying the path and then he nods and starts to climb uphill. He doesn't know this area either, but that seems to be the best line of action at the moment.]

[tennen]

Then why are you bringing me here? What if the road ends? These trees don't look familiar to me. Are you sure we'll be alright, Nezumi?

[singsthesong]

[It's better than the other place but heck if he knows the place. Not that he will say that.

Or anything at all. He's focusing on mapping out their surroundings, making a harsh gesture for Shion to shut up so he can hear what is going on. He might be fast, but if there are a group of adults with weapons on them - plus he has the other boy with him. They should try to avoid trouble, and the talking is not helping.]

[tennen]

Nezumi? Why aren't you saying anything?

He'll stay quiet for a bit, observing their surroundings. These are deciduous trees, and--]

Why would it be called 'Makeout Point'?

[He stops at that question and just

stares at Shion for a moment. Absolutely flabbergasted - sure they are only 12, but shouldn't "making out" be in the vocabulary of someone that age, especially if they have an relatively broad one?

...because the question can only be about that. It is way too obvious that a remote, "romantic" - an interesting word, good to play with and make good use of - spot like this would be used by couples. Not that Nezumi has the most exact idea or even concrete first-hand experience, but he's seen and heard enough. And no matter how sheltered Shion grew up, surely something as basic as making out would show up on the media or simply in his normal surroundings...

But we're the same age, Nezumi.

[Completely matter-of-factly. Of course Nezumi would know plenty of things that he doesn't, but....]

There's not much to "make out" about a place like this.

[This place isn't particularly beautiful, especially since he was in No.6 prior to this. Though it is very natural and somehow more earthy feeling than the perfectly manicured parks and flower fields he's familiar with.]

And you have lived the life of a pampered kid that has been shielded from the real world far too well to know even the easiest things. I'm sure they'll have a class on this when you are deemed "old enough" by your authorities.

[He waves a hand dismissively and then stares back at the point that they are headed to.]

What type of class is it? In the special course, I'll be focused on my ecology track. Would something like this be included in that?

[singsthesong]

I wouldn't know. Do you have a class called "Basic Understanding of the Human Race" or "Common Sense"?

[He continues on the path until they reach the top.]

We've already done our basic courses.

...you do know where children come from, right?

Of course. It's fairly basic knowledge.

Probably not for someone who grew up in a world that was as detached from reality as you.
